From the pictures it is clear that the plastics are not the best but I think what would be interesting to see is if its on par with the interior quality of the duster purely because they are in the same price range.

As one of our fellow bhpian replied:

"7SF" is the classic 2-3-2 (jump seats) combo. "7CC" and "8" means it's a front facing 3rd row with captain and bench seats in 2nd row respectively.

There is one thing that has been running around in my mind: which car holds more value for money given Xuv500, scorpio and safari?

I understand that xuv500 is an entirely different car in the comparison but I am pretty sure xuv500 will be given a thought before purchase of a Scorpio. And I feel for the extra bucks xuv500 is a better option for an urban buyer.

From the pics posted above, it looks like the S8 and lower variants reuse the same switchgear from the previous gen Scorpio for the A/C and temperature controls.

I think only the S10 gets the cool blue lighting for the knobs in the cabin. I can see the old green lighting in the S8.

To be honest, I don't understand the excessive focus on the interior plastics. Even though they are not "soft touch", potential owners can be rest assured that they will last for a long while and not fall or break off.

They should be more worried if M&M have taken care of some other irritants like:

1. Quality of rubber components - door beadings, the spiral rubber covers for the power window wires, the rubber brake light switch under the brake pedal etc - that deteriorate a bit too fast.
2. Quality of suspension bushes, which was pathetic in the outgoing version.
3. Glove box closing without having to wrestle with it.
4. Power window motors conking off.
5. Headlight fogging due to really fine cracks in the glass, even if you don't meet with any accident.
6. Water splashing on the windshield if you go through a puddle - admittedly, it's lesser than what it was in the 2.6 Crde, but was still there in the outgoing 2.2 mHawk.
7. ASCs giving out misleading info regarding propeller shaft not needing any periodic greasing.
8. The ridiculously short service interval of 5000 kms.

And so on and so forth..

So, basically the jack lever and wheel spanner is to be kept running loose in the dickie/boot area. I too hope they have found some permanent place for it.

Same in my case (2007 Vlx), waiting for people who have had a chance to see the car in flesh to update. I am not getting time to visit the showroom to have a look.

I see lot of posts regarding the quality of the plastic etc, to me the cabin seemed to be a refreshing change from the usual beige and browns. I liked the XUV borrowed steering wheel and the overall look of the cockpit.

What is making me wonder is the pricing strategy. With W4 & W6 in the market, which scores a tad better in the looks segment and engine segment. Don't you think that there's going to be a clash of interest? Unless this is another ploy, where M&M wants to just cash in a little more from the early birds and eventually after 6 months slashing their price.

Just to end, the RED is a stunner! The overboard rear end, looks way better in anything other than the white, which is extremely garish. (Disclaimer : Personal, humble opinion, not to disrespect anyone)

I am sorry I didn't find any post of yours where you have described your driving impression of the new SUV- maybe I have missed it, as the thread is witnessing continuous activity. So with a 'biased pov', I thought you were either comparing the old Scorpio with the Storme, or just based on specifications/features and what others might be saying of the newly launched car assumed the better car.

Just test drove the S10 2wd vehicle yesterday.

My observations:

1) handling has improved
2) gear shift is still not smooth
3) door handles are very filmsy
4) ride comfort has improved
5) only from S6 plus, which costs 12.97 on road in Karnataka is ABS and single airbag available. S8 at 14 lacs has dual airbags. Only S10 has cruise control and GPS navigation.
6) sliding seats are not available in 7 seater option. The quality of the rear seats has improved but no way near that of Safari or even that of XUV
7) sump guard lacks protection

You could have some thing here, M&M has done this before also, the Mighty Muscular Scorpio came out with almost a lakh cheaper for some variants then the earlier mHawk which I had bought 8 months earlier.
