I saw an interview of the lead xuv designer and she talked about how mahindra is building new vehicles for a global market and height reduction was a step towards that. I remember being a little pissed about it cause 1.I am tall 2.I sport a turban 3.I like headroom

So I think going forwards we won't be seeing products that cater to specific market needs. They will be designed with global preferences in mind.

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

Spotted the same camouflaged test mule near my residence yesterday and have spotted it quite often here in Nashik previously too. Could not click any pics as I was driving myself and it was coming from the opposite direction.

By the time I could stop and click any pics, the driver zoomed off. As far as the height of the vehicle is concerned, I could not spot any difference and its almost the same as of the outgoing model. The bonnet seemed less curvy and more aggressive.

With so many spottings lately, I feel the launch might be just round the corner.

I think all of these are added to save the 'new face'. This cannot be the direction M&M would be taking the Scorpio in. But it would sure be interesting to know what are they testing under that hood. Maybe a new engine config/tune?

What should the prospective buyers of Scorpio do now ? Waiting for the new scorpio makes lot of sense as you wont have a outdated model just after your buy it. But if there are too many changes in the new one then you wont know the performancre of the new vehicle unless some time has gone by. Which would mean a longer wait period for your dream car. Any thoughts ?

The Scorpio that has been featured in the recent pages is NOT the "All New" Scorpio but a facelift.

This essentially means that this variant/facelift will not have any serious mechanical changes and hence, if you are looking at the Scorpio, you can go for it.

PS: The All New Scorpio will be launched only by some time in 2015.

Sirji,
Would the Getaway be also similarly revamped? Suppose it is best left as is with the 2.6 ltr engine and in its present tune? Or probably in a different state of tune to allow for some relaxed highway cruising?

The Getaway will remain what it is. A niche vehicle. It will not see any major changes since its volumes are too low to justify them at the moment.

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

Going by what I see, the Scorpio may just get a facelift and Mahindra might price it very aggressively to counter the Duster / Terrano duos. I dont see Ecosport as competition as it is more of a car with better ground clearance and would compete with B+,C segments.
Mahindra will try to milk the existing scorpio as much as possible. It is a decent product and all it needs is a facelift and some aggressive pricing to push its last leg a little bit more. On the other hand, a complete new scorpio might be still 1-2 years away.

I think it would be interesting to see how the XUV500 W4 is priced. Seems the launch is round the corner and if priced correctly it would find lot of buyers. Some Scorpio buyers might also "strech" a little and go for the W4.

Diwali 2013 is going to be over & still no sign. But then, reports suggest a June 2014 launch, hence...

I do not think Scorpio buyers would be lured much by the W4 iteration of the XUV 500.

I in particular like the round head-lamp.

Don't get fooled by that round headlamp! That's just a dummy.
Not sure if you remember, when the Xylo was undergoing testing prior to its launch, it had similar headlamps too. It's just a decoy so the facelift design doesn't get revealed.

I too am looking forward to the much hyped w105 all new scorpio to upgrade from my 2010 Manza QJD. But it now looks probable that w105 will have the same 120 bhp m hawk engine. I am, therefore, much confused, whether to wait or take the plunge right now. What say you guys?

Just saw this in flesh in ecity bangalore.

Overall dimensions looked same. GC seemed less.
Interiors looked different, no more round ac vents, now its going to be square.
That's all could not makeout more as it was dark.
