Honda is working hard on the diesels & the 1.6 Earth Dreams is a marvel too (refer - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/honda/c...km-honda-civic). I expect the 1.5 to be a competent performer & almost as powerful as the VW Vento (i.e. 100bhp+).

However, the Civic i-Dtec is too costly in UK IMO (base around £20k). They should follow the M&M strategy to attract customers initially, rather than recovering the R&D cost, by pricing the cars skyhigh. They can increase the prices gradually as sales numbers build up.

Yep . Even the Earth-dreams 1.6L engine developed by them has various class leading specifications. Lets hope for something which is at-least on par with the Multijet motor.

I just hope they wont use the same taillights and they will lower the rear bumper, so as to give a good low stance, as in many Honda cars. Else, as it is shown in the figure, it may give a bad impression from the sides, like the current Fiesta's rear bumper.

Also, any hints about launch date(s)?
Are there any changes expected in Amaze in interior department as compared to Brio? Or is it just slap a boot on brio, like Dzire ?
Considering the fact that Brio already has a shorter wheelbase, how does it translate to a Sedan? Which might turn out to be small.

Thats a very good news to prospective buyers and a blow to all other companies.

Unless honda gets their pricing inline, this is not going to blow the markets as expected.

Lets wait and see how Honda plays this time.

That is wonderful news!

Honda's petrol engines are generally very fuel-efficient and their diesel engines are bound to be the same. Let's hope their diesels also have the same free-revving nature of their petrol i-VTECs.

Isn't it funny to see these Japanese manufacturers (first Suzuki and now Honda) who were completely against "the dirty fuel" being used in cars finally jumping on to the diesel band-wagon? If Suzuki's success with diesels (borrowed ones at that) is anything to go by, Honda should fare at least as good as their compatriots.

Having said that, they need to price it well. If they attempt to do a Jazz and price the car in the league of the Sunny/Scala, they will end up with Jazz-like sales figures. If the sub-4m sedan is positioned on par with or even just below the Dzire, then everyone will be "amazed" at its success.

Honda sends out a press release on the same

Honda today unveiled the name of an all-new entry sedan type model that utilizes the platform of Brio, Honda’s strategic model for Asia. The new entry Sedan will be called the “AMAZE,” and will be launched in Thailand and India.

The details of the model will be announced later this month (November 23, 2012) in Thailand, and next financial year 2013 – 14 in India.

The model will be equipped with a gasoline engine in Thailand. In India, the Honda Amaze will be available with a petrol engine and a newly-developed diesel engine and will be positioned in the entry level sedan segment for the Indian market.

I still doubt the ability of honda to produce diesel engines . I wouldnt touch a honda diesel for sure .. They do not have the experience of manufacturing diesels and it would be suicide to buy a honda with a diesel within the first few years ..
