It is still sub-4m as per reports. This was confirmed by one of the TV shows.

^^^ Jazz is 3900 mm long... the Brio sedan can be based on former's chassis & have almost same boot space which IMO is sufficient for a nuclear family in most situations.

Autocar India updates on facebook & forum:

'Honda India CEO confirms all new 1.5 diesel debut in entry saloon post March 2013. Will power future new models too but not existing models'.

Does it include Brio hatch also ??

As per Big H they are waiting for the higher levels on indigenisation of the engine; and the facelifts of the Brio, Jazz and City before unleashing diesels in these.

Why not plonk the diesel mill in the Jazz instead of toying around with a Brio sedan?
Oh wait. India. Boot. Snob. Forget it.

Jazz is as expensive to produce as City, whereas Brio is relatively cheaper to produce, so is it sedan.
As it a developing platform still for a sedan, so heavier & more shaky diesel powerplant can be installed in a much better manner.

So much effort and hullabaloo, and they have come out with what looks like the 2nd gen City!

Honda Brio Sedan to be launched in 2013. EDIT : To be called "AMAZE"-honda-brio-sedan.jpg

This one is from IAB. It's an official image.

The post also said it will be coming with a diesel plant.

Looks bad IMO, but a lot better than swift dzire.

Re: *SCOOP* Honda Brio DIESEL caught. EDIT : Now caught on VIDEO!

The rear looks like a banged up Kizashi to me.
Typically Japanese.

Anyone else with similar thoughts?

I think it looks good given how the Brio looks. If they can only match or beat Dzire's boot capacity, people might like going for this given the passenger space.

Problem with this and Dzire is the C pillar curving in still like a hatch. They could have stretched it towards the rear to give it a better look.

re: Honda Brio Sedan to be launched in 2013. EDIT : To be called "AMAZE"

I visited Prestige Honda in Chandigarh a couple of days back to have a look at the Brio AT. Upon inquiring about Brio diesel, the salesgirl told me that the Brio isn't the one to be coming up in a Diesel mill.

It would rather be the sedan version of Brio that would be offered with a diesel engine in March 2013.

It doesn't look inspiring but this teaser seems enough to give nightmares to Maruti (for Dezire), Mahindra (for Verito) and TATA (Indigo) and many others. Affordable Honda with a diesel power plant is a winner combination. Lets see what price tag does Honda put to it.

re: Honda Brio Sedan to be launched in 2013. EDIT : To be called "AMAZE"

If Honda were to go purely on the Brio route, the sedan will look awkward and unattractive. As a matter of fact, that first picture in red looks downright repulsive. The design engineers @ Honda will really have to work out of their skins to translate the Brio's hatch form-factor into a graceful-looking, well proportioned sedan - like say the all-new City - if that is indeed their objective. Or, with all due respect, a Swift DZire may result and come our way.
