Interesting Stats. My current home is in Gurgaon and office in N.Delhi. So minimum drive 80km per day. Meet family/friends = +10km. Shopping in Gurgaon = +10km. Late evening leisure drive with wife = 10-15 km. That is day calculation of 100-105km. Then comes some weekends that I need to go to Dehradun/Chandigarh/Kanpur/Jaipur/Manesar/Sohna/Faridabad/GreaterNoida that adds minimum 500km per month. So tally on minimum side = 3500kms of smily drive.

God I love driving.

In Germany, I used to average 2200km of Autobahn driving 100kms round trip to office with cycling on weekends . In Denmark, I averaged 0.00000005 I drove 500kms in 1 year :(

My daily office commute is 150kms and add to that out of station travelling.

I average around 3K per month in my car + sometimes take cabs if am too bored to travel.

Alto has done 66K kms in 2.25 yrs. Had a CNG kit installed and the last 45K+ kms have been decently reasonable.

How Many Kms Do You Drive in a Year?

Even though affordability has considerably increased in the last decade, cars still remain a novelty item requiring a considerable amount of investment. Knowing our average annual mileage will help us considerably in choosing our next steeds.

This thread will also help bring out any societal change in attitude towards traveling.

Previously I used to do about 20K a year but I think I'll hit more like 35-40K this year

I drive anywhere between 30 to 40K kms in a year. This mileage is including both business and leisure trips and that is why i love driving new age diesel cars which are fun to drive and are fuel efficient too..

Average around 14,000km per year I travel out of which 50% is City and 50% highway! I would like to use small car for City use while big vehicle for highway cruise! Till date used only Petrol vehicles and fuel economy I averaged is around 13kmpl in last 6+ years and 7 vehicles (omni-santro-swift-innova-matiz-alto-safari) and I would like to own brand new vehicles similar to small AT car like i10 or Santro/Innova/Safari/Jeep 5 years down the line! Last 6+ years I did trial and error of owning the fleet to understand which suits me.

Regards,

Ravi.

My first car i drove 63K KM in 7 years
My second car, i have driven till now ~9K KM in last 6 months.

that makes 72K KM in 7.5 years = <10K KM per year.

i have opted for less then 10K kms per year option, as my indica current one has travelled 30000kms till 4 and half years of ownership, where as my older maruti 800 was driven 55K's in 4 years.

2002 Aug Palio has now clocked about 36K Kms (7+ years). It helped that for first 5 years my office was just 8 kms round trip from home.

2009 Mar ANHC has clocked <6000 Kms in 8 months. We clock less than 10K per car between two of us in family. Though most hours are spent in city in daily commutes, appx 35% of the total mileage come from our long drives.

Maruti Esteem VX April 1996 - June 2004 65,000 kms
Maruti Zen LX May 1999 - July 2004 59,000 kms
Hyundai Accent Viva 1.6L DOHC Jan 2004 - June 2009 9,800 kms
Tata Indigo LS Aug 2004 - June 2008 52,000 kms
Mahindra Logan 1.5dCi DLX May 2008 till date 16,600 kms
Hyundai i10 Magna AT April 2009 till date 1,450 kms

Adding all, dividing by 15 1/2 years, approximately average 13,150kms per year. Phew!

P.S. All were driven by me, maybe a paltry 1000kms driven by folks at home.
