Apologies if this has been asked before, I could not find a question asked quite this before, hence the new thread.

If ride comfort, as in not feeling a thing from the road and not hearing a bit of sound, was the only criteria and nothing else (looks, power, FE) mattered, which would be the best car/SUV available in India under 30 lakhs ?

The ride should feel like you are sitting in a couch in your home.

CRV ? Accord ? Camry ? Endeavour ? E class ?

Would really appreciate some pointers in this regard.

Comfort is very much subjective matter.
All the cars you stated are among the best.

I doubt if you get a definitive answer of your post.

what if we define comfort for the sake of this thread very narrowly as

1) Lack of any feedback from the road (bumps, rough surface, big holes etc)
2) Lack of sound

Surely these 2 aspects should be quantifiable and one can pick a winner ?

30-50 lakhs - E class
30-10 lakhs - Camry
10-5 lakhs - Optra (believe me, baleno doesnt come close to this gem)

Hi Goldie,

I have tried Optra once i think it was 2004 LS version (i am not sure). I found that the thigh support was good, but the lumbar support was not so good. I am 5'6", may be because of height people might find different cars better.

Anyways i would like to try out the 2006 version some time.

agree: Many people haven't sat in the Optra and hence are not aware.

Above 30 lakhs - Maybach Saloon
30-10 lakhs - Skoda Laura?? :-| (Is it)
10-5 lakhs - Optra
under 5 lakhs - Palio?? (Is it)

EDIT - The 1.8 LT has Lumbar Support and so does the 1.6LT have. Try them i am sure you will be bowled over by the comfort.

Most Comfortable Cars

1. Amby
2. Safari
3. Tavera
4. Sumo Victa
5. Corolla

People tend to bring the price factor into the picture, there is a psychological effect that goes as - More the price you pay for a vehicle, more comfortable it must be..

But take my word, the above is the most correct order for comfort levels..

Most Uncomfortable car/SUV.

1. Gypsy
2. Sierra: Ingress and Egress is a major issue for rear seat passengers.
3. Mahindra Jeeps: All of them except for Scorpio and Bolero.
4. Maruti Omni
5. Daewoo Matiz (Cramped Seatings)

Cheers,
Manish

Corolla more comfortable than Camry ? I read a review by GTO on Camry, his comment was Camry is the most comfy car he has sat in.

I agree Amby is very comfortable. Its noisy and lumbering, but IMO the ride quality in terms of filtering out bumps is much much better than Petra/Accent/Ikon etc.

its totally.. subjective....
lack of sound... and feedback is not comfort.... (think about it)

Comfort is how one feels... sitting/ traveling in one. Even the A/c counts.

For me the most comfortable car would be where I can put my computer chair and sit on it. :)

I disagree to it. They are fine for city drives.
After all that's where Matiz is meant to be used.

Where does Opel Astra fit in comfort car club? :)

I would rate it verrry high in its class, though I find the optra slightly better (or is it the interiors ..)

The E-class interiors are cramped. For the price you pay the rear seats and even front seats are restricted with space. It cost 15 lakhs more than the C-class and is barely 15% more spacious....Prime reason why we decided to wait for the 5 series instead coz E-class just doesnt provide the comfort level a 40lakh+ car should provide.

The most comfortable cars available in India are:
Amby
Skoda Superb
S-class
And ofcourse the ultimate - Maybach62

Strange ... I have travelled extensively in E-class taxis in europe, and space has never been an issue, even though I am around 6ft, and some drivers over there are quite tall as well. Though if you find it cramped, you wont find the 5-series much spacious either - both are more or less the same in interior space.

Moreover, the rear-seat ride is more comfortable compared to the 5 series, which has a slightly stiffer suspension.
