Honda CR-V 2.0 2WD AT: Rs. 20.85 lakh
Honda CR-V 2.4 AWD AT: Rs. 22.40 lakh

Yes, the pricing seems to be quite ok.

Now only if it were with diesel engine my booking amount cheque would have already reached the nearest Honda dealership by now.

Wishful thinking. But eventually Honda will have to introduce diesel engined Accords, Civics , CR-V etc if they want to remain in the game.

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

Man that is very decent pricing by Honda.

If you compare it with the big diesel SUV's like Fortuner it's almost 2.5-3lakhs cheaper. Running cost of petrol vs diesel and the CR-V does not sound too bad.

Also going by all the initial reviews, the 2.0L 2WD MT is supposed to be a very sporty package and is a very good driver's car. Sub 20L ex-showroom also means lesser road tax in some states.

2W AT is an excellent option as well since it has same features as 2.4L AT but without the 4WD option which increases the weight by 100 Kgs. Power to weight will be similar.

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

Why do you guys think the pricing is decent?
I find these numbers ridiculous.

Not only CR-V, but all SUVs sold in India are quite disproportionately priced for what they offer.

In this particular case, no new tech, no innovation from Honda. No direct injection, no turbo, no DSG, no proper 4x4, no low range - the same old stuff in new (and equally unattractive) shape...

Because the pricing is relatively decent.

Thats true, all cars in India are priced ridiculously, but its nice to see one priced a bit less ridiculously than others.

Honda should have got direct injection, etc. But proper 4x4 was not something the CRV was ever known for. Nor did anyone expect this from a CRV.

Personally I think the pricing is good, and it is going to do well. I see many Accord, Superb, etc buyers picking this up instead.

Well it will sell - that's a different issue. Even the attrociously priced X-tral ans Santa-Fe are selling... This just makes the companies more bold in terms of pricing....

Oh no ..not that excuse again. The fact is there are a lot of german cars here -both cbu and ckd with imported engines- which run on advanced diesel engines on our roads. So, there is no reason why only Honda engines have this problem. And if these germans which sell far less cars than japs can tweak the engine for local diesel, then not sure why Honda cannot

You cannot look at the price on it's own. In India you have to compare it with others and that's when the CR-V pricing comes across as decent.

Remember an AT Fortuner costs Rs.23L ex-showroom, a DSG Jetta is around 19L ex-showroom.

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

This pricing will work if the government actually raises diesel prices by 10/- over the course of a year. Right now the Fortuner is a better bet. Unless someone wants petrol refinement with 6kmpl over the Fortuner 2WD with proven reliability and resale, this car(not SUV) is going nowhere.

Anyway the Earthdreams engine is a lame 1.6, mostly fleet sales stuff. The 2.2D costs around 33k Pounds with Navigation. That's higher than most of the entry level offering from the Germans, without any snob value attached.

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

The ARAI mileage quoted is 13.7 & 12 kmpl for the 2.0 & 2.4 litre engines respectively. How much will it transfer to in actual road conditions? I am sure it will give more than the 6 kmpl it was giving earlier.

Yes the pricing looks decent, probably because I was expecting to Honda to price it higher. Folks who look at cars like the Superb petrol now have another option to consider.

But if you look at some of the other 5-seater crossovers in the segment, this looks overpriced. For the example, the Skoda Yeti Elegance 4x4 should be cheaper than the base MT variant of the CRV.

The new CRV looks like Tata Aria to me. Especially in the picture here:

Well, as of now, the new CRV 2.0l MT is priced almost at par with the Superb MT Elegance and its cheaper than the Outlander, Grand Vitara, Koleos, Captiva, Santa Fe, X-Trail and D2 sedans like the Accord, Camry, Passat and Teana.

How about a full fledged official TEAM-BHP review? Do we get 1?
I don't mind living vicariously.
