Re: Hyundai's new car - BA

I thought i-20 is already there to take on the Swift and i-10 rivals the Ritz / Wagon-R. For the Alto / A* Star they already have the Eon. So where exactly is the opportunity they spot.

Unless they retro fit a boot to i-20, calling it i-15 or 25 or whatever to take on the Dzire.

Re: Hyundai's new car - BA

WOW!!
Just the other day, in the thread discussing the low sales of I10 i said one of the problems of the product is that it stretches across 2 different price segments. And voila, Hyundai announces product differentiation.

I think this is good move from Hyundai. Instead of having one product (I10) to fight across Beat Wagon R and also ritz and swift, a breakup in the portfolio would help product differentiation for both Hyundai and customers.

I10 can now concentrate on the sub 4.5 lakhs segment, while the new one will take on the fight with the higher range products.

Re: Hyundai's new car - BA

Co-habitation of the old and the new seems to be the latest recipe for OEM's. At today's economic climes and global commodity prices it is very difficult to come up with a brand new model at the price point of the existing old one - so, voila, you push one up the ladder and rename the old one as, dare i say, i-10 Classic?
So now, let's examine the House of Co-habitants
Let's count:
Existing co-habitant's:
1. Old Tata Indica eV2 / New Indica VISTA
2. Old Tata Indigo XL / New Indigo MANZA
3. Old Ford Fiesta CLASSIC / New Fiesta
4. Old Tata Safari DiCor / New Safari Storme
5. Old Hyundai Accent Executive / New Hyundai Accent (Verna)
To be launched co-habitant's:
1. Old i-10 / New i-10
2. Fiat Linea existing / Fiat Linea Refresh

Prediction's anyone for the next lot ??

Probably safe to assume that the protrusion at the rear windshield is not a part of standard fitment and done only to further camouflage??

Scoop: New Hyundai Hatch/i10 Facelift spotted

Yesterday, I Spotted this fully camouflaged hatchback at Nelson manickam road, Chennai.
The Interiors looked really good. I couldn't get to the front of the car as the traffic was heavy. Going by the interiors.. I'd say this is the next gen i10.
Also, this car sports TN-09-TC-49 num plates which is similar to the one that the 2013 Santa fe test mule has ( TN-09-TC-42) which confirms that this is a Hyundai hatchback. This one is similar to i10 in dimensions. Posting a few pics that i Clicked!

True, though these cars look stunning when launched, over a period of time these start to get boring!

Or is it due to the wind that the back portion is bulged out a bit?

This is indeed the Hyundai i10.It will use the Storm Edge fluidic sculpture. And we can safely assume that the Storm Edge Verna might come to India in mid 2014.I think the Storm Edge i10 will get the 1.1 liter diesel.

Cheers,

Fresh Pics of Hyundai's next generation i10

A big shout out to Prabhanjan Tattar for sharing these scoop pictures. Prabhanjan was able to snap a series of pics of Hyundai’s next-generation i10 undergoing tests on a wicked set of alloy wheels. The two camouflaged cars were spotted yesterday on NH4, about 50 kms from Chennai. Sightings of the car have gathered momentum as the launch is rumoured to be around Diwali this year.

What you need to know about the all-new i10:

• Will follow Hyundai’s Fluidic design philosophy
• New 1.1L diesel motor (Hyundai’s smallest yet)
• Same 1.2L Kappa2 petrol engine
• Interiors an improvement on the current i10, which already offers segment-leading quality
• Seats are expected to feature adjustable headrests (unlike the integrated units of current i10)
• Bit more legroom for rear passengers
• Large front air dam as on the i20, with fog lights on higher variants
• A higher standard of crash worthiness

2013 Hyundai i10 spied. EDIT : Spotted in India on Page 2!-92255hyundai-i10.jpg

Expect the next-gen i10 to be the first real competition to Maruti’s Swift which has had an almost unchallenged run thus far. Maruti sold 38,462 Swifts in the first two months of this year, compared to 16,734 i10s by Hyundai. Of course, the Swift is available with a diesel engine, but the i10 makes do only with petrol power. When we consider the fact that 3/4th of Swift deliveries are for the diesel variant, it's obvious that the i10 petrol does outsell the Swift petrol.

The real challenge to the Swift will come from the next-gen i10’s diesel variant. The current generation car is getting long in the tooth, as evinced by dropping sales. The i10 was launched in October 2007, with a face-lifted version appearing in 2010.

Hyundai isn't sure whether it should discontinue the current i10, after the launch of the next generation. Chances are, the present i10 will only be sold with the Santro's 1.1L iRDE2 petrol engine and low - mid level trims at a lower price point. There is no indication as yet from Hyundai on the fate of the Santro, which maintains steady sales of around 3,500 units per month.

As unlikely as it is, we do hope Hyundai is somehow able to launch a 4-speed automatic with the new i10 diesel. No manufacturer offers a diesel + AT hatchback; that's an opportunity just waiting to be tapped.

Re: 2013 Hyundai i10 spied. EDIT : Spotted in India on Page 2!

Wow!

A hyundai I10 diesel with fluidic design and more spacious starting below 5 lacs, that will hurt maruti badly.

Hyundai have set themselves up beautifully with Eon, I10,i20, verna and elantra doing well, now is the time to attack Maruti where it hurts, the swift and maybe Dzire with a compact sedan below verna.

Re: Scoop! 3rd-Gen Hyundai Santa Fe spotted testing in India

I spotted a fleet of cars under testing on Bangalore-Mysore road parked near Kamath LokaRuchi hotel yesterday. I saw the group park their cars and head to the restaurant for breakfast while I was in the hotel opposite to it. Other than drivers all the rest of the crew were Koreans. What I noticed was the fleet of test cars belonged to Hyundai and the support cars were two Ford Fusions and one Swift & Ritz each. All in all about 8 cars, three hatch backs (i20 ?) and one SUV (Santa Fe ?).

Below are some images I managed to capture before a person came running and stopped me from shooting. The dashboards were covered in black cloth so I could not shoot interior images.

Re: 2013 Hyundai i10 spied. EDIT : Spotted in India on Page 2!

I just hope i10 also gets the fluidic design cues as well. Ideally on the i120 they should sell it with the 1.4L engine block and not the underpowered 1.2L mill which is doing the duty. I do hope Hyundai takes a complete stab at redesigning the i10 instead of the shoddy jobs done by Maruti for the Swift, Wagonr, Ritz models.

Fluidic design on an i20 would look really nice. But, on an i10, would be an overkill, IMO

However, I agree that Hyundai has to start from scratch with a brand new design for 2nd best selling car in India if they wish to remain in top 5 volume sellers
