So here is the clear pic,i believe the rear seats can seat at least kids comfortably, reminds me of our old bolero, which had a similar set up.
Also the rear leg room seems decent.

+1 to leg-room and third row seat. But the interiors look wore than the IndiCab's interiors. I hope its only because its a test mule and the production ready one will be better, else I'll be out of its potential customer list.

Love the taillights and the rear. Wonder why Mahindra is not giving the Quanto the new Xylo face. Afraid of extreme cannibalization? :)

I hope the vehicle doesn't look very out of proportion in person.

Any clues about how it handles? hopefully they are not making a elephant dance.

Any confirm dates of its launch? looks pretty good and with decent space for 5 with luggage packed at back seats folded, all needs to be seen is pricing with handling and engine choices mahindra chooses to give.

It needs to get better shoes. Somehow, the current ones seem to be a misfit. Wonder why Mahindra didnt go in for bigger ones.

Mahindra Quanto to be launched in September 2012 - Overdrive

Quoted from the OD report:

It will come with a new three-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine producing 65PS and wear the same tyres as the Toyota Innova in size.
Is that right? Twin-turbo? If it is, then just 65PS from a twin-turbo common-rail diesel? And wouldn't that naturally push prices up no matter how hard Mahindra tries to keep them down?

The C-pillar is almost a foot wide.
Without a substantial quarter glass, that's just a terrible design.
Why do we resort to saving few thousand rupees with such malnourished tyres?

i heard the date to be near 20 september.
and talking about the engine

the extensive engine development report that was uploaded by one of us bhpians indicates a 100 ps unit
This forces me to believe two engine choices would be available considering.the 65psunit quoted above

if this is the case i am sure the 5 lakh attractive pricing about.which we are hearing till now will be the 65hp unit

would really love to see this on the road.
eagerly waiting and glued to this thread

I dont think a twin-turbo will produce as low as 65PS. A 100 PS Mahindra car will make sense @ 7L+; not a 65 PS one, at least for me! Lets see what Mahindra has in store!

I see better finished test mules/prototypes of this car in the pics, as this car approaches near to its launch. which indeed is a very good thing for the Mahindra who've started well-finished cars(Xylo onwards) from the very first day of their launch, just spare them for few niggles.

Now this time again, this car seems to be a on the par product with beyond Industry standard levels of fit & finish & just another winner from Mahindra after XUV-'five-OO'.
Many likes for this new-gen 'Mahindra Rise'.

My friends works for Mahindra and has confirmed that the production of the Quanto has indeed commenced and would be priced at ~6.5 Lakhs. He also said that Mahindra was aiming for the Duster and plans to undercut its price by a substantial margin.

Saw it for the first time yesterday at Kanchipuram. Essentially a shortened Xylo. However the height remains the same and hence does look a little weird.

I am a bit confused here. Where did the 65 ps engine suddenly come into picture? Initial reports talked of a 100Bhp one. A Bhpian had infact shared a document too in that context. Can somebody shed more light on this? I hope there are two engines on offer if they intend to give it the 65 bhp one.

One of the USPs as I saw for the vehicle was a good 100 bhp engine for hatchback prices. A 65 bhp engine would seem grossly underpowered on a car that would have more weight than the average hatchback. Come on Mahindra, please give it the 100 bhp one.

That said the recent snaps show quite a good amount of space. I would simply remove the third row and try to modify the second row and make it reclinable. That would give me two rows with good space and a humongous boot. A cracker of an engine would be exactly what the doctor would have ordered.

I guess you have missed the first post of this thread which shows three clear pictures of 'Quanto'. You will be happy to see "butterfly windows" in the foot wide C-pillar, keeping it almost as thick as B-pillar :).
