re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

Hi guys thanks for the appreciation.

Some more detials

It was a 5 seater (the one which I saw), it had smaller tyres as compared to XYLO .

It was being shot for a tv commercial near the T3 terminal IGI Delhi .

Front was no change from XYLO ,looked classy to me!!!

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

Looks are subjective. Bolero sells because no other vehicle in its price range can do what it does, in spite of the agricultural pump it has as its engine. It may not be flamboyant in design nor can it torch the tarmac. But it is enough for people who are buying it.

More importantly, it seldom needs a flat bed truck.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

I work in Mahindra. I went to the recent dealer meet at Delhi for the Quanto.

Pros :-

1. 1493 cc mCR100 engine. 100 BHP, 240 Nm Torque @ 3750 RPM. 3 Cylinders. 17.3 kmpl claimed.
2. Good seating position for the front rows.
3. DDAS system (like in Xylo). Displayes AFE, DTE, Temperature etc.
4. Getting in & out is easy.

Cons :-

1. The 2nd row seats are too upright. Not that comfortable.
2. The last row seats are only meant for children.
3. The design is too inspired from Xylo. It would've been wonderful if they'd have based this car on Scorpio.

There wasn't any test-drive available so no views on driveability & handling.

Wow!!!! Thanks for the heads up. I m not bothered about the third row. That's just a large boot for me. Second row is a concern. Can the backrest be altered aftermarket?
Looks doesn't look too bad.

What excites me is the confirmation on the 100 bhp engine. Now hope mahindra prices this well.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

There was no details on pricing. But I think that they'll price it in the range of 5.5-7.5 lakhs as the major competitors are Swift, i20, DZire etc. Secondly, the construction is body-on-frame type. The tires are of 15-inch (205/65 R15). All the five wheels are alloy wheels. There are puddle lamps. The ground clearance is 180 mm. The ORVMs are electrical.

The versions will be C2, C4, C6 & C8. I'll try to get some more information later on and will post on this thread. I hope Mahindra doesn't fires me for leaking this information

They have a winner here, I would assume. 17kmpl? That is something great. For the last row, most manufactures put this as a another bullet points in the feature. No one really worries if people are using it as such

Good info. Thanks.

Any automatic variant on cards in the lineup? Looking for an automatic variant in next vehicle and the Quanto sounds interesting (Sep-21 seems to be the official launch date).

Mostly NO! But the question is whether you want to put your cash on a Mahindra Auto box. I don't think the Scorpio Auto was anything great. Also let's not forget the world SUV doesn't have an Auto box too.

Slightly Off-topic::

XUV 500 is essentially a global product from Mahindra which is supposed to be sold in multiple countries which are more into autoboxes. If they haven't been able to source / equip this car with an autobox, then it clearly says they lack in the technology. Also there are reports that Scorpio auto is out of production now. I will not trust such a company on the autobox initially! I am sure they will improvise over time [especially since the brand is Mahindra], but I will wait for a good time before I buy an autobox from them!

I will not think this much if I need to put my cash on a Toyota / Maruti / Hyundai / Honda auto!

No Auto version in the near future. Mahindra is looking out for a vendor for autoboxes for Their XUVs and Scorpios.

If at all they plan to bring in autoboxes in Quanto, it is at least 2.5 years away.
