Hi guys, just thought of sharing this here since it may relate to the mCR100 engine that has been spoken of on this thread.

A friend had been to Koncept Automobiles, Safdarjung Enclave yesterday for a test-drive of the Bolero & in the conversation that ensued between him & the sales representative, it was aptly clear that Mahindra has developed their own small diesel engine.

Also, the sales guy was extremely confident that the Verito is supposed to receive a change of heart in some time, wherein this newly developed engine would be used. I was a little skeptical to believe this information initially since spilling this information in front of customers would mean sabotaging the sales of Verito, however, using an in-house engine does make sense.

The Quanto is ugly true to the Mahindra norm, keeps in line with Indian consumer preferences for practicality and is a new segment leader where the Rio failed due to it's bad Premier heritage. Much better option than a grotesque DZire which costs about the same. Overall, despite the looks, not a bad effort in creating a new mass segment in India for M & M, if they succeed.

Nice Idea but the rear look seems abnormal.I think they could have worked a bit on the tail lamp design.Premier Rio looks better than this

I just wish the rear-wheels weren't pushed so far into the corners. Guess to keep it sub-4m and still have decent space, they didnt have a choice. But now it just looks like a really weird short Xylo on stilts even with those hatchback sized shoes.
I've started liking the idea of such a product but the design isn't exactly the iphone amongst all smartphones.

Looking at these pics, I think its actually more presentable in appearance than the Xylo (especially due to the spare wheel at the rear), but it should've been either shorter or wider. I think it'll look great in the XUV500's (now discontinued) "Amazon Green" color.

RIO is finally going to have competition. Wheels bang at the two ends surely look odd but this just might work where RIO failed if M&M get the price right.

Going by Vinay's post, I think he might have seen the C8 top end version for the TVC shoot, which might be having the Facelifted Xylo's seamless nose grille.

On the other hand, Torque-ative has captured the base C2 variant, which has the Genio type nose grille.

I actually find the looks pretty decent. I guess it depends on what you expected the car to look like to begin with. I always saw it as a Mini-Xylo and that is precisely what it looks like. The rear could have been better but it is certainly not as ugly as some of the other cars in our market. If priced correctly then I don't see any potential customer walking away only because of the looks.

Actually I am impressed by the latest set of pics. The car does seem to look OK not bad.
I would go for it with this looks for sure.

Nevertheless, the wheels in the end of the vehicle has created a doubt in my mind, have never driven such a type of vehicle not sure how it would react on the road.

Indian cars and Bikes says "Mahindra has built the Quanto using the the body-on-ladder design, and this is one reason why the SUV is expected to be priced between INR 5-6 lakhs and not the INR 4-5 lakhs, as originally anticipated."

This article says its a 7 seater (some error?) i thought its 4+1

Close examination of the first picture says the variant is "C8". So if the nomenclature is similar to that of other Mahindra vehicles, this should be the top-end fully loaded model. The base would be "C4" and the mid would be a "C6".
