re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

^^ If Mahindra bases the suspension design on the Verito (kerb weight 1100 kgs approx), I think the results would be good, so we could get a good blend of ride and handling. This is what I am hoping for, assuming the Quanto is going to be offered as a UV and not an SUV. This is what could really clinch it for Mahindra.

I know this is wishful thinking though, considering that the Quanto is based on the Xylo platform.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

Somehow I'm not excited by this car at all! The xylo never took off as it should have inspite of a strong pricing strategy and virtually no competition. How the "Compact" version would inspire people to buy it is something I cannot understand. Seven seater, really? Sometimes I feel Mahindra tries too hard on these things, but ends up not creating a "class" product.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

Its a very well thought roll out of the new xylo. Just when Ertiga from the Maruti stable was proving to be a game changer in this segment M&M yet again have come up with the right answer. Though the lax side would be its only 5 seating capacity but its going to give a tough run to Ertiga and likes.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

Mahindra Quanto would have been a nice offering if they could have removed the boxy looks. I feel it to be a deal breaker.
But if Mahindra prices it aggressively as in the case of XUV500 its going to create some demand. Only think under question is which section of the customers Mahindra is aiming at ? Is it the swift , I20, polo etc that they are targeting at ? Or are they going to target the all new segment that is the Compact SUV segment ?

It's going to be exciting to see how the market receives the QUANTO. If. By chance it fails to meet expectations, then the only chance left will be the NISSAN rebadged DUSTER

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

I can't reveal much more at this stage, but here goes- The Rear Axle suspension system is for all purposes the same as the Xylo. The only difference seems to be the Hypoid gear ratio. So at least we can be happy that it has a coil spring suspension unlike the Rio & Sumo Grande that make do with leaf springs.

If M&M manage their suspension tuning properly they should have quite a good ride quality.

Looks good. The facia should have been changed or at least the should get the new Xylo's facia. The car worth waiting for. Lets see how they are going to price it.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

I remember seeing a fully camouflaged car a couple of months back on the Nh4 bypass near Warje, Pune. It had good road presence along with Spare wheel mounted on the tail-gate. I was wondering whether it was some Mini SUV competing with Rio. Now that I see this car, it must be the Mini Xylo. They should have put the new headlamps of the updated Xylo. More streamlined look

By the way if the 3rd row seats are easily removed, it should make a good 5 seater with loads of luggage.

Pricing will surely make it very interesting product and competition for Ertiga.

Dear Swiftnfurious, i am also not too sure about all cars but currently our company has a safari which we shell around 8 to 9K every 15000 km service. I am not comparing innova here since i dont expect that from Mahindra. I expected it to be better than safari because there is a whole generation gap between both the cars. I am also not sure if my comparison charts are correct but from the expense point of view we find xylo is more expensive to operate.

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

I happend to spot a camouflaged Quantro running on the Mumbai Nasik expressway. Performance wise, it seems quite good, with the car outrunning us, at maybe around 140-150kmph. Looks wise, with the cubic print on, sorry it looked like a oversized old Santro. Same big body, puny wheels, the height of the original Xylo and made funnier with a SUV styled spare wheel on the rear door. Not sure where this car will be positioned, but calling it a seven seater is stretching it to the max. There is no way anyone over 3 feet tall will fit comfortably into the last row, and with all seats up, luggage space is zero. Reason being, length wise, it ends at the second row of a Safari, it cannot be a 3 row configuration by any means.
No way this can be compared with the Ertiga, which is a cute small MUV, almost an allrounder in terms of space, flexibility and small footprint.

I dont think even the company will market this as a 7 seater. From the posts, I assume this was done more to get some relaxation on the emission norms. But at the same time, it would come handy for short city runs for a family of 2 parents + 2 kids + 2 grand parents. From that point of view, this car makes a lot more sense.

I will be extremely happy if this car can take our pot holed roads [or no roads] with a lot of ease. If it can provide good comfort in such roads, it can garner some sales. Also I believe this car will have the same presence of Xylo from the front and might give a "dont mess with me" look of SUVs!

I dont think this car has a 3 row config. The last 2 seats will be side facing as far as the reports go, with entry from the boot!

I happend to spot a camouflaged Quantro in dark brown color with gujarat number plate in the suburbs of mumbai. looked like xylo had been shrunk. did not look that attractive from the side profile looked rahter small for a seven seater.

Thanks for reporting by the way it's going to be called Quanto

Isn't a great form of marketing to be launched product by having them run around and let people spot them to report and build the buzz in market? This also gives out message to rivals that we are ready .

Quanto seems to be ready to hit a segment that has been always dominated majorly by car and with this they are definitely going to have first mover advantage in the pricing bracket of 5-7 Lakhs.

Now only concern to me is the new engine that has been developed after chopping of one cylinder from their 2.2 litre engine. Though specs look good but how would be over all engine would perform and how much vibration has been contained only time will tell.

+ 1 to this.

Having extensively driven both sedans as well as MUVs within Bangalore's uneven and rough roads, I would say that ride comfort is far better in MUVs, within the city.

Does the Quanto have a transversely mounted engine ? If yes, we can look forward to the absence of the characteristic engine starting judder transmitted in roll direction to the entire body (including passenger's bodies) of most Mahindra vehicles !

re: Scoop! Mahindra Quanto : The Mini-Xylo. EDIT : Launched !!!

This makes lot of sense for the Indian Roads and also gives the UV attitude which would ease driving on the bad roads a glide. Am hoing M&M is taking good care for a great suspension on this product.

Though it looks like the Genio, I am happy to see that the commercial vehicles in India are loking the Genio and a lot of cash vans are seen using it... Would be intresting to see how M&M diffrentiates it on the front looks
