Arvind Saxena moves from Hyundai to Volkswagen

European car manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) today announced the appointment of Arvind Saxena as the Managing Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars in India.

Saxena will be based out of Mumbai and will be heading VW’s sales, after sales and marketing divisions.

Gerry Dorizas, the President and MD of Volkswagen Group Sales India welcomed Saxena to the company and hoped that his extensive experience in the Indian automotive sector would help VW’s brand growth in India.

Saxena has nearly 30 years of experience in the automobile industry. Prior to joining VW, he was heading the sales and marketing operations at Hyundai Motor India. He has also worked with auto majors like Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki and Fiat India in the past in various capacities.

As of July 2012, VW was 8th in terms of passenger car sales with a market share of 2.78%. It offers the Polo, Vento, Jetta, Passat, New Beetle, Touareg and the Phaeton models in India.

I hope he brings the same kind of customer focus to VW that I have experienced as a customer with HMIL.

This is good info Coolabhi
Neeraj Garg joining Tata Motors is interesting, I heard he might be joining JLR, well now its just the same :-)

I dont know why Skoda would get Sudhir Rao, no offence to him, but frankly he never did any wonders for Renault India

Disclaimer: these are my opinion, feel free to disagree

Re: Arvind Saxena moves from Hyundai to Volkswagen

As a VW customer, it is interesting for me to see some key folks from Maruti and Hyundai joining VW. Though we can not expect any sudden change in the current scenario, I am curious about the long run.

Re: Arvind Saxena moves from Hyundai to Volkswagen

Hope all this is not window dressing and VW is genuinely trying to turn around the tide of a poor image of dealer and after sales experience.

Seems they are getting MSIL top honchos into the company now. It is important that they be given a free hand in improving new customer experience and after sales service. Coming from MSIL means the customer is king approach quite unlike what has been going on in VW till now. Whether it will actually happen is to be seen. VW has a very good set of products, even if its a tad overpriced, there are plenty of car buyers who would like to own a car from VW provided they can give a great buying experience followed up with good after sales service.

Re: Arvind Saxena moves from Hyundai to Volkswagen

Being a new Volkswagen customer, I am looking at this development with interest. During my pre-sales discussion with the service representative, I had asked him if he has seen any changes since the appointment of new MD. He informed me that Arvind Saxena was personally paying a visit to showrooms across the country. He had visited them (Volkswagen Downtown, Bangalore) just a week prior to my chat, which would be sometimes in the middle of November 2012.

Hope, that the after-sales for Volkswagen takes a turn for the better.
