Re: Honda may postpone launch of new Civic, discontinue Accord in India

Yes, hope they launch it. The German cars have good 140 bhp diesels, but don't promise hassle free ownership.
The Toyota Corolla has got a seriously underpowered diesel under it's hood.
The UK civic has a 1.6 l diesel that produces 120 bhp @4000 rpm and 300 Nm @2000 rpm. Good figures to kill the corolla and it can also take the game away from octavia.

I still wonder why Elantra didn't sell too much.

Elantra is the segment leader! Just take a look at the sales chart. There aren't many ownership report of this car on our forum.

Seeing October's sales, Corolla is 1015 units. Far more than the Elantra(232.) 124 octavia's are sold.

The new Corolla have taken up that position, that too with a huge margin (1000+ units shipped out in October).

Case of Octavia is curious one. I guess VW is confused with what to do with Skoda in India. On the one hand there is a waiting of 3-4 months on new Octavia and on the other hand they are able to produce and sell only 124 units in the whole month!

VW seems to be promoting itself at the cost of Skoda.

Buddy, please look at the monthly sales thread. New Corolla is the segment leader since the month it is launched. Matter of fact, October sales stood at 1000+ Corolla copies that is more than combined sales of all D1 segment cars, including Elentra.

A friend shared this picture. All I can disclose is that this is India as the person I have edited out is my friend. Have pinged him to ask whether other details can be shared.

Brilliant. Ask the most important question please- can we expect the car to be launched in the Indian market? Or is it just for some testing purpose?

This is interesting. The Civic hatchback. For testing or there's something more to this reveal, time will tell.

IAB had an article on this.

Imported with the 1.6L i-DTEC engine.

Honda Cars India have imported a left-hand drive Civic diesel from the United Kingdom for research and development purposes, reveals import and export website, Zauba.com.

Hope we get this hatch here in India. It is so popular in European markets and we are still devoid of this here in India. I wonder what state of tune they would decide to release this in though and the price bracket.
