Your post is borderline offensive, but i'll not take offense. If you think i'm someone who doesn't call a spade a spade i'd request you to read my posts elsewhere and in each place you'll see i've criticized the Polo where it deserves. You could've continued the debate in a dignified manner over PM, didn't have to resort to a personal attack.

If you have the time, please do read through our ownership reviews, you'll definitely agree with me that whether its a Maruti 800 or Merc S class, all owners highlight the negative aspects of the car. Team-BHP stands for that, unbiased reviews where an owner accepts a product for what it is.

I'm glad you agree to put an end to this debate before it draws the attention of the mods.

Good day to you

Re: August 2012 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I think the slump in Alto sales is due to the fact that Maruti may have used its plant for the production of new Alto 800.

Unremarkable Driveability? Are you really talking about the POLO? I felt POLO was the best with the handling and driveability!!

Good Driveability? from either of those 3-pot mills? Too much of a lag in the diesel... I admit I have not really driven the 1.2 Polo Petrol, but aren't there much more enthusiastic cars to be had in the market? Brio or Swift are more fun anyday (if one overlooks the VW snob factor)!

Looking at your question I realized that i10 is the only car in B2 segment which does not have a diesel engine except for Honda cars who dont have diesel engines at the first place. No wonder its slipping down.

And, GTO and others who prepare these charts, a huge thanks, this is the second most important thing I wait for every month after the salary

Dude, the Polo diesel has a cracker of an engine - minimal lag and strong midrange. It's easily more driveable than the swift. And you can never tell from inside the car that it's a 3 pot engine. (This is coming from a swift owner)

You are right. Mahindras are considered far more reliable in comparison to Tata cars. If you visit the upper reaches of Sikkim, you'll realise that most of the share taxis are Mahindras only.

Re: August 2012 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I just read somewhere that the Fiesta hatchback is expected mid 2013. I wonder whether it is the 2012 Fiesta which was revealed at the Paris motor show or just the earlier gen model. The new one looks absolutely hideous with its Aston Martin style front although the engine options are very interesting - 1.0L ecoboost and 1.6l Turbo in the STi. If it is the current gen model which they would be launching here in India, then why is Ford waiting till next year? Are they happy with the sale of 165 units of the butt-ugly, over-priced Fiesta?

If maruti is back, then the rest of the Manufacturers must be loosing volumes. I forsee that Tata, VW & Skoda, and Nissan & renault would be loosing some numbers in the hatchback segments. I may possibly be wrong too.

Last month, Tata gained on volumes in Indica/go. Now they might come down again . (poor tata . In advance )

Only Duster volumes would be unaffected. i think.

GTO: Waiting for the September sales charts.

You are wrong mister. Tata indica /indigo sale is better than in August 2012.
