I am 6'3". The driver's seat of the A-star is uninhabitable for me, and I can tolerate the front seat of the i10 for about 5 minutes.

I am hoping the Brio has atleast as much legroom as a swift, and preferably more.

I'm close to 6'2" and trust me I fit inside a brio with tonnes of room to spare.

In fact a friend of mine who is close to 6' 5" was shocked as to how easily he could fit inside without any trouble.

Is it really that bad? I am a couple of inches shorter and drive an Alto everyday. Don't think A-Start can be worse.

^^^ Both you taller guys would have problems in most hatches & even in new Dzire. And, things could be interesting in Brio with large travel range of the front seats, which, however, are placed lower (& there is no seat height adjustment in top variant even). @Harbir this could be a boon to you (with the Pag on), provided you are comfortable sitting down in the Brio (much like a sedan). But, there would almost be no space behind you in the rear seats.

For average & shorter drivers, I do not think it would matter much & the i10 has almost 16 different positions for height adjustment. I bet A-Star must be having few adjustments for seat travel & height.

What my emphasis in the comments that I have posted today is that one should judge the car objectively (on its strengths/ features) rather than subjectively (brand image/ hearsay).

+1 to that, I am 6ft 3 and find it reasonably comfortable to drive my A-Star, alto is a wee bit worse but nothing alarming.
But then the way my seat is positioned no body taller than 5 ft 6(my mom) will want to sit behind me.

Its whatever you get used to. I used to drive an 800 at this height. I drove an Alto 1.1 in 2004 and didn't think about how small it was but earlier this year I sat in a K10 and thought I would be mad to force myself into this.

Unfair to compare the Brio with Astar - Astar AT has a smaller 3 cylinder engine, no airbags/ alloys/ electrically adjustable mirrors/ remote lock and is 10 cm smaller in length and 8 cm smaller in width.
Dropping these features results in a much lower cost - and Astar AT should have a market of its own.
The competition shall be between the i10 and Brio ATs which should be closely priced - with i10s gizmos battling it out with the (presumed) superior AT box of the Brio.

I am 6' 2" and I get in and out of the i10 AT with ease. I have used it on commutes lasting around 1.5hrs (one way) without seating/legroom issues.

I get around 10 kmpl too from the i10 AT in Chennai.

Though I should mention that I have not got used to my wife's i10 in the 1 year she's owned it. The pedal placement is too painful and uncomfortable for tall people.

There is nothing to beat an AT about town given our ultra chaotic traffic, and infinite start-stop. I have had ATs since 1999, and now am 100% AT since I am not getting any younger and my wife does not drive a MT. The only negative thing, 10-15% thirstier about town.

Till I got the Civic my second car was a MT, Esteem (carb), followed by an Accent. My wife will have some fun coming to terms with the Brio AT - 88bhp against 65 or so of Santro, and 50 of Zen (carb).

Have seen a few first drives online of the Brio Auto.
Apparently it's not a CVT, but a conventional five spedd auto.

I drive both cars, and the Brio is way ahead of the Swift in terms of interior space

Honda Brio Automatic to hit Indian roads on October 18

New Delhi: Automobile companies are doing their best to inundate the car market with new arrivals and rehash models this festive season.

Honda Cars India Limited has said that it will launch Brio Automatic in India on October 18.

The automatic Brio will cost between Rs 50,000 and Rs 70,000 above the regular hatchback model and will be powered by 1.2 liter iVTEC engine, however the automatic will give a fuel effeciency of 16.5 kmpl.

The car will compete with the Maruti Suzuki A Star and Hyundai i10 Automatic.

Thats great news.. Normally the ATs are very thirsty for the hydrocarbons..
