Re: Mercedes B-Class launched @ 21.49 Lakhs : Official Report

95RON is Premium in Euro-III, IV and V. Regular is 91RON. I suspect the ECU will adjust to our 91RON with a very minor loss of performance.

I don't think any ECU will adjust automatically to a lower octane rating of the fuel being used ( as compared to the recommended one), the ECU will only adjust to any negative feedback from the knock sensors but only for that cycle . Else it will run the standard map for the rated octane fuel .
Having said that , knocking would occur only in case of extreme temperatures and high load situation for a prolonged period in case one uses 91 instead of 95

I think you're confusing RON ratings from US with that of Europe/Germany. In Germany, 95RON does mean 95RON in India. 91RON (Benzin) was phased out a few years back (and was the same as 91RON in India), and only 95RON (Super-benzin) is standard nowadays.

I agree with sg-iitk. The ECU will detune marginally, and run fine with 91RON - the programming/maps may also be altered a bit to suit 91RON in India

That is a demo vehicle. The other day I spotted a stickered white B-class with those delicious 18" wheels and a panoramic sun-roof on road and am totally in love with that car. Eagerly waiting for its smaller sibling.

I saw one in my colony yesterday. It looked like someones car and not a demo vehicle. Its like a long extended hatch, not really MUV ! I was expecting something as high as an innova.

True, the B does not really look like an MPV. Nice stance, and sits quite low. It’s more like how the Honda Jazz is in the small hatchback space.

Spotted this in Chennai, and this is the second one. Spotted a red one earlier.

Re: Mercedes B-Class launched @ 21.49 Lakhs : Official Report

My immediate family is considering to buy the B class and they wanted my opinion on it. I went thro' the T-BHP thread to get a head up on the B. In Chennai the OTR for the Sports Tourer Version is 32L. Delivery January 2013 onwards. Available in 3 colours. White Silver and Red. The only concern they have is that the B is available in the Petrol Spec as of now. The SA claims 10KMPL in city and 14KMPL in Highway traffic.

In my opinion this looks spacious than the C Class. Moreover they own the Jetta which is similar in size to the C. The B class will give them the satisfaction of owing the STAR badge which is an aspiration of many an Indian Family.

BTW the B is going to be the replacement for the Beat!! Some one in this thread mentioned a family replacing the Nano with the B.

I just saw a For Regn TC number plated B Class 180 near Koramangala. White car, driven by a prosperous looking young-ish chap.
The vehicle was alongside my Yeti at a traffic signal and looks to be about the same size and height etc as the Yeti, overall.
Very nice vehicle!

25+ lakhs OTR for what is essentially a hatchback with a 1.6 liter engine! Way too overpriced even by Mercedes standards.

The new look 2011-2012-2013-2014 Mercs all have the three-pointed star on the radiator grille like some of the earlier 1950's 1960's ones!

I quite liked the look of the white B Class that I saw today.

Seems quite affordable too, for the rich fellows, considering that it is a CBU Imported merc. But this is purely relative.

I wonder what the price will be once they start making them in India whenever that happens.

Personally I would look at the pricing abroad and compare it with the India prices before considering such a vehicle.
