Dear Finney, I understand you are sentimental towards the Palio since you own one and adore it to the core. I possess one and had to buy it after lots of flak. In my opinion it should be termed a flop for one reason - It did not tick sales figures. Any good product which does not appeal to the mass in terms of sales can be a flop. Many people would want to own a Palio GTX but who comes out and really does unless there is a poll?

Finney, flop does not mean bad car in all cases. It could mean 'stupid management', 'useless dealers' and 'ignorant public'. In that order.

Yes, the standard 2000 was one major flop, basically for not providing a good engine. there are a couple of guys here who have plonked toyota diesels and getting FE of 22-26KmPl.

Well I do not know much about it but it sold good numbers for a year or two until the bad service bug hit Fiat on its head.

With the Invex if they got the price right, mitsubishi could have pretty much given a new shot of life to the Lancer. If you ask me, the Lancer is one of the all time great designs. Perfectly proportioned, muscular and a car who's boot looked empty without a led Spoiler !! A sign of true rally cred !

How about the Premier Sigma? wasn't it a flop based on a old chinese design. Haven't seen too many of those even at Pune.

Yes Standard 2000 does qualify as a flop car.
The original Rover SD-1 was a stunner. I had this thing on my desktop for sometime. I would still buy it, if it is relaunched with a good engine and good mechanicals. It might give some competition to the skoda or may be to viva.
