He says it is both mid as well as top variants , but read earlier in this thread that it is going to be only the top end based on what another SA said.
I think the SA should have confused it with the Polo R cup car ant the international Polo GTI launched previously that came with the 1.4 L TSI engine with turbo+super charger.

Even the much much bigger jetta comes only with a plain 1.4 TSI without supercharger in India.

Though not an ideal comparison, a well informed VW Mumbai contact seems to claim a ARAI FE better than the Swift petrol for sure.

Can he verify if the invoice states 12% excise duty of 24%? That should settle the debate.

Mate, there is no question that it is a 1.2L engine mated to a 7 speed DQ200 gearbox with no paddles, period. Whatever the ignorent SA's may say... I have seen the car inside out now.

Well... BIG 'Hello' to all my fellow Team-BHPians.. this is my first post..

Im currently in Pune.. and I got the same information here, the SA did mention it is a 1.4 TSI, and not 1.2. I asked him twice but he said he has got the information from the manufacturing plant itself.. The features would match with the current 1.2 Highline version, and as mentioned in earlier posts, signatured as GTI, with rear roof spoiler. He also said that it would be launched around mid-june(he was not sure), in single variant, and quoted that on road would fetch somewhere around 7-7.5 L..
lets wait for time to befold the confusion on it..

I am all set to sneak-peak.. and will get back with some more information..

cheers

I visited the Volkswagen Nagpur showroom yesterday to see the Vento automatic. The SA told me that the POLO now comes with 1.2L TSFi engine with 6 speed manual or 7 speed DSG which churns out 105bhp . However he wasn't sure about the pricing.

Saw the car at a private viewing. Some confirmed details:

It IS a 7spd DSG.

Polo TSI decals on the side rear quarter panel.

USB and SD card mount on the face of the head unit.

Bluetooth is available.

No Intercooler. Cooled charge pipe by coolant jacket.

Wheels are same as Polo. No skirting from the Polo SR.

Different seats, with slightly better bolstering.

Can you tell what's the difference between having intercooler and the water operated charge air cooler present at the inlet manifold of the TSI engine? If it cools the intake air, won't it be sufficient for a small capacity engine like this?
Or, is it really a drawback in our tropical conditions and a deal breaker as far as reliability is considered?

Not a dealbreaker. The same setup works world wide. Lets wait and see how it performs in the Indian heat. When you take a testdrive, take a long one and get into some heavy traffic and keep an eye on temp, and cars response post heatsoak.

Worst case we can add an aftermarket intercooler. Not a big deal.
