Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

Looks very bland, boxy and boring. Straight out of 90s. The game has moved on. Isuzu will find it tough selling this thing here. Rexton looks much better. As it is, Isuzu is not a strong name here.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

I had also spotted the car last week without any camouflage near McDonald's on Karve Road, Pune. The car was blocking my way, so I had to wait patiently for the car to drive out. There was a group of 4-5 people in the car. I couldn't spot any testing equipment in the car because of its height. The car has a good road presence, but looks totally boxy. Even more boxier than the Ford Endeavor. At first I thought it's the Force One, but the grille was different and after going closer, I noticed the ISUZU badge. I didn't take photographs as I was in a hurry.

The car was white in color, with ISUZU logo in front and MU7 logo at the back.

Today, I spotted the car again at the same location. This time however all the logos and names were covered by tape. This time the car was parked nicely, but unfortunately this time also I was in a hurry, so couldn't take photos.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

Spotted the car today at Hinjewadi on way to office. Was stuck in traffic so got just enough time to catch a couple of snaps. All I could spot was a label for a 3 Ltr engine and MU7 every thing else were camouflaged with cheap tapes . But the car sure had huge tyres, seating in my Ritz I could not locate much of details of the cars interior.
But I agree, it looked completely boxy.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

Initial CBU units could mean very heavily priced. Isuzu will have to price this much lower than Endeavour for it to even have a chance in the Indian market. I draw much similarities between this & the offering from Force motors!

If the Force 1 is selling at some 10-12 Lakhs, why can't Isuzu sell it at the same price? Just a question ?

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

The side and rear profile is absolutely hideous. Force 1 actually looks better than this. Hats of to Isuzu for giving the chinese a run for their money with design...

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

The front Headlights seem to be a direct lift from the Cadillac Escalade. The front looks pretty good to me, with the bonnet scoop and all. The rear seems a little confused but seems to work better than the rear profiles of both the Force One and the Scorpio. What's the deal with that shark fin third row glass?.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

This one looks really huge. The third rows should have good legroom with decent boot space. In the competitive SUV market, this one might go the Force1 way, if the pricing is spot on.

By the way how much of a brand awareness is available in the market for Isuzu?

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

The rear three quarters resembles a bit like the new CRV. Rear profile looks ok though. Is it just me or the wheel wells in pics look quite raised especially the front ones. If it comes with a 3.0L 4x4 box and prices it around 18-20L it would be very tempting indeed. But they'd need to raise brand awareness first.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

Is it just me, or are those tail-lamps a straight lift off the Maserati Quattroporte?

Spotted: Isuzus Undergoing Testing. EDIT : MU-7 SUV & D-Max Pickup launched-qp0511024x682.jpg

Anyway, it looks like a massive SUV and I'm guessing it should be right up against the likes of the Fortuner / Santa Fe / Endeavor etc. That loooong wheelbase / rather large rear overhang aren't going to do it any good for off-road trails!

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

Design is basically brainstorming of a few select minds and bringing them together to create something people will admire. Sometimes I wonder what the "team" of designers would be thinking before penning down such atrocities. Isuzu should probably just stick to commercial vehicles - something that they're actually good at!

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

If one goes by this pic from a MU7 Ad, this is going to be by far most spacious SUV we have seen.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

That's one huge SUV.
If Isuzu can price it alongside XUV and Storme, it might get some buyers.

Re: Spotted: Isuzu Alterra Undergoing Testing

Pricing will be critical because the design is very old school.

14-15L Ex-showroom will hit the sweet spot
