2. How long did you keep it - in years and in mileage? 6 years, 90k mileage - now my wife's daily drive, did not sell it

3. Top 3 reasons why you sold it. - I did not sell it

Ford Fiesta TDCi

1. What was your car make & model and month & year of purchase? Ford Fiesta TDCi, 1996

2. How long did you keep it - in years and in mileage? 2 years, 25k mileage. - gave it to my Dad but did not sell it

3. Top 3 reasons why you sold it. - I did not sell it

1. Wanted a car that i could drive sedately, as the wife wanted

2. Wanted to upgrade to a sedan
3. The hard suspension was getting too much

2. 9,500 kms
3. Wanted an A/T, a boot, and the car was given to someone else to use (so not exactly sold)

Mercedes Benz E270
1. Oct 2004 - End 2012 (still to be sold)
2. 73,500 kms
3. New car in the family - Laura A/T - so Liva and E Class wouldn't be used much as Laura fit all the needs - A/T, Diesel, Powerful, Feature loaded, and most importantly - perfect to drive on self. However, we are still attached to this car, so things might change.

Cars in our family:-
1. Premier Padmini - 1986 to 1988,don't know the year of manufacturing,it was a 2nd hand vehicle,sold off as we were proud owners of a new Maruti 800.

2. Maruti 800 - Nov 1987 to June 2007,done over 1.5L kms,gave it to one of our relatives as we were having parking problems,about 20 years!

3. Santro - Oct 2005 to Oct 2012,done 55K kms,old car,was in need of good infusion of money,got a good deal in exchange, 7 years.

4. Alto Lxi - August 2005 to June 2010,brother's car,was kept idle for over 6 months as he was at other location,car was at Mumbai with Gujarat registration,got a good deal,about 5 years.

Current vehicles are as per my signature.

Rule of thumb in my family. Keep a car till it conks or starts giving major issues.

Maruti 800 1990-2000
By the end of it, we tried not going beyond 60 km/h for fear of it overheating. Still remember the time it was unable to climb a hill because of 6 people on board!

Tata Indica DLE 2000-2002
When it was initially launched, Pre V2, Worst buy ever. Like a truck to drive, no power, thick clouds of black smoke despite constant servicing and good quality of fuel. Needless to say, it didn't last long

Hyundai Santro GS ZipPlus 2002-2005
3 year warranty was over, the under carriage had rusted due to the famous 26-7 floods.

Opel Corsa 1.6 GSI 2004-2006
Secondhand (2002 model). Loved the car, its low profile, solid build quality, weighty steering, first 100hp car in the garage. However, lots of niggles, expensive spares and not the best service resulted in its time with us being cut short.

Hyundai Getz GLE 2005-Present
100k km clocked, Just spent 60 grand on its first major service. Some say it was stupid, I personally love it as a city car. Light steering, small dimensions, immensely spacious cabin. Though its not exactly a looker. Very practical that's all.
Though not at all impressed with Hyundai's servicing.

Hyundai Verna xi 2006-Present
At the time, we were saddened by the sale of the Corsa. Didn't want anything European for the same reasons. So the Chevy's and Ford's were out. Hated the Honda City's looks (the dolphin one) besides it was woefully under powered. This looked decent IMO, was very light to drive and inexpensive to maintain. After fitting it with 195 section tyres, the handling has improved and a couple of small modifications here and there (k&n filter et al) have helped its already reasonably powerful and smooth engine.

On the horizon:
Immediately
2003 Opel Corsa 1.6, getting a good example. Will be giving the Getz to my sister in Bangalore and I've always loved this car plus my service guy is excellent.
Next year we plan to change the Verna for something a bit more driver friendly
On the horizon is a new Yeti or Laura, or if budget permits, then a 3-Series.
chuck reliability. I want drivability.

My 1st car was an Indicar diesel top end in June 2005. It served me extremely well over my 2 requirements that were space and economical to drive. After 3 years and 2 months, it was unwillingly sold in Aug 2008 as I didn't want to take it with me to B'lore when I moved from Chennai, for work. Had about ~27K kms on it while it was sold.

The 2nd and my current car is a Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI petrol, that will be 4 yrs old on the 1st week of January 2013. Its an excellent car and one of the best hatchback cars in India yet. Recently killed an urge to trade it for a Honda Jazz or different car; I didn't want to make the mistake of losing a brilliant car. This I intend to keep for some a while longer, it's only got ~38K kms on it.

1.My dad's first car , 1992 maruthi suzuki omni , clocked 1,75000 Km

Reasons for selling : old car , engine was over worked and due for engine overhauling if it ran for another 15000 Kms

2. My dad's second car , 2000 maruthi omni with MPFI engine , clocked 1,50000 Kms in 4 years

Reasons for selling : By 2004 it was over worked , increasing petrol costs , lack of power steering , air con .

3. Third car , 2004 indica v2 dls , clocked 2,49000 Kms and still running everyday . Best work horse we have ever owned.

Will be selling the car shorthly will buy another indica ev2

4. Currently own , March 2012 , a brand new toyota Innova -G variant clocked 14000 till date.

Reason for buying : 1. Excellent safety , driving comfort , reliability and a good family car. We intend to keep this car for a long time !

The only reason we would want to sell a car would be for its maintainance costs . My dad is a businessman and every car we buy is a capital investment. We make sure that the cars are well maintained.

Zen - Bought 1996 - Sold 2010, @71K Kms
Indica - Bought 2001 - Sold 2008, @ 65K Kms

Currently
Baleno - Bought 2005 - Still running, @70K Kms
Civic - Bought 2011 - Still Running, @13K Kms

The next up to sell is Baleno, probably when it reaches close to 90K Kms, or when i find something that i want to switch to.

I was abroad for quite a few years my first car in India was a Scorpio

1. Scorpio DX (Black) 2004
Got flooded in my basement parking in the cloud burst that happened back in 2005, had done only 11000 kms and was just about a year old, my heart broke.

2. Scorpio again 2007 SLX (White)
Done 52000 kms sold a month back, ride was getting very rough and bone jarring, rust was setting in at certain places, looking for an AT sedan.
