I want to understand how long T-BHPians keep their newly purchased car before selling it.

I would appreciate if you can share the following. If you have had more than one car then you could respond for all the cars.

1. What was your car make & model and month & year of purchase? Eg. Hyundai Santro, AT, August 2005

2. How long did you keep it - in years and in mileage? Eg. 7 yrs., 3 months, about 98,000 kms

3. Top 3 reasons why you sold it. Eg. Difficult to maintain as the car aged, wanted an automatic to replace this car, better features.

I want to restrict it to only newly purchased cars and not pre-owned cars. FYI, I am yet to sell any of my newly purchased cars though they are 7+ years / 100,000 kms and 5- years / 86,500 kms old.

Swift Lxi. Nov 2009. 45000 kms. Yet to sell. Probably might sell within the next year for a sedan as need more space for luggage.

3. Primarily Wife's Car, sold it to purchase a diesel car since her running had increased. Also car was very uncomfortable to drive because of the pedal positions.

Sold in 2001, as we needed a bigger car, with power steering for mom.

WagonR
2001-2003
Sold due to financial difficulty.

Ritz Lxi
2009-Till date
Not planning to sell, as I love the K series Engine.

2012- Planning for a sedan/semi-SUV.
After buying the car, will keep the Ritz for short city runs.

1988-2005
Had to sell this trusty ol' mate as she was beginning to show her age and needed a bigger car. So sold off my possession to my best friend in Hyderabad. Learnt to drive in this only but had to sell as everything has to suffer wrath of time.

2. Honda City
2004-2011
Well, this one was a hell of a damn nice machine. No less than a BMW in terms of driving feel, this was the most driven car in our home and probably became a threat to my trusty ol' 800. The sudden hike in fuel prices made a barrier between me and her. And in the end, I was forced to sell her to someone.

3. Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Eon and Mahindra XUV500
A sudden increment in family forced us to set a sudden spike in the number of cars in our home. Bought EON for me, Verna for Bhabhi and XUV for my brother. Let us see for how long they'll perform but they have quenched the thirst for automobiles in our family.

Tata Indica V2 DLS, Feb 2003 - Had to choose between Palio & Indica then.
9 yrs & 8 months, 106000 kms & still running strong. Still Have It.
There are as many reasons to keep it as there are to sell it. The key reason favoring the disposal being my(personal) craving to get a modern car.

I have a huge inertia against selling any of my possessions including cars. Once home, they become a family member.

July 2002, WagonR VXi (MAV), 68K, still have it.
Feb 2009, Safari DiCOR 2.2 VTT VX 4x4, 21K, still have it.

During Diwali, I am taking WagonR to my native place to leave her with my father. Contemplating a Brio AT next.
