It is as clear as daylight that Duster is overpriced; and Nissan, you think that you can get a pie of Duster by pricing the Terrano higher? Whose logic is this?

I'm awaiting the July sales figure of Duster vs Ecosport, to comment further on this.
Ecosport's launch was like setting the cat amongst the pigeons. Duster is down to 3089 units compared against Ecosport's 4000 (that's the limit I suppose for local production). A lot of manufacturers(Maruti, Mahindra, Hyundai) will be rethinking their pricing schemes, hope Renault / Nissan do the same !

They report:
"The Terrano will be made available in a total of four variants - XL, XL(O), XV and XV Premium. It will be slightly more expensive than the Renault Duster although Nissan is expected to offer better quality interior and more equipment."

Nissan shouldn't even bother with launching this car if it is priced higher than duster. Duster sales itself have fallen to 3000s mark. And I dont think nissan brand can command higher premium with a duster copycat.

re: Nissan's Duster-based SUV, the Terrano: Full Pics are out!

Price higher than Duster and be sure to not cross even 1000 per month. It will require a radically superior interior to move anything more and that sure is not that likely. Their pricing agreement is going to spell trouble for both brands in this market.

Would be better if Duster itself drops pricing or immediately offers at least insurance + 5 year warranty and 3 year AMC within the existing price and additionally offer maybe 40k of accessories and maybe an exchange bonus as well to go along. Nissan then could price at current Duster levels - but doubt that would help the brand either. Can figure why they are bothering.

Infact hope that this is being wrongly reported and the price is infact about 15% lower than that of the Duster to ensure that the Terrano sells and also the EcoSport does not think of revising pricing upward in the near future.

I think Nissan will be very happy if they manage to move anywhere near 1,000 units a month!

Yes true but even that is very optimistic and not a longer run figure considering the options in the market, the product, the price, the Nissan service support base and the current market conditions.

Spotted Testing: What car is this?

Spotted this camouflaged test vehicle in Chennai. Looks akin to the Duster. But the TN 19 plates suggests that it could be a Hyundai?

Will the Nissan come with 4 wheel drive? Wonder why they are testing it so much for just a badge job.

re: Nissan's Duster-based SUV, the Terrano: Full Pics are out!

there is supposed to be an Auto version, I guess?
Elsewhere, this version is mated to a 2.0L Petrol- dunno what the scene here will be.

Got a sms from Zedex Nissan- launch confirmed for Aug 20. Site is up: http://www.nissanterrano.in/

Looks better than Duster for sure.

NISSAN QASHQAI mule spotted testing in Chennai

Greetings to all my fellow bhpians.
After a very long time i am putting this post here. Yesterday i was getting my bike re fueled at Kattankulathur, Chennai petrol pump and suddenly i see this test vehicle coming and getting the fuel topped up. And being an automobile engineering student i immediately got to the person who was driving it and tried getting out things from him, although i knew that he was being paid to keep his mouth shut. But the curiosity in my mind grew more. So i just started clicking a few pictures and waited for him to get out of the vehicle so that i could peep inside. To my luck, as he got down, he by mistake flipped over the data file towards the passenger seat and that's when i saw "NISSAN" written.

I could soon relate the vehicle to the duster by looking at its body line, stance and muscle. But the ground clearance seemed to be more than the duster. I am attaching a few pics that i clicked. Lets see when does this vehicle officially hit the road!

Note to the mods: If a similar thread is existing, please merge it. Thanks

Did you get chance to look at the interior, dashboard design?

As far as i could observe, the interiors and the dash were similar to the duster. The center console was masked, so there could be something exciting that's coming up. Some tweaks were made to the speedometer portion of the dash i believe. All in all, the difference between this product could be compared to the difference between the micra and pulse.
