Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

Maruti seems to have quietly slipped the Ritz AT in the Indian market.

It is updated on their website. No information on the price yet.

The AT seems to be available with the Vxi trim.

re: Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

Thats a great news, seems to be inspired from the response on DZire Vxi.

It all started with good response from A-Star AT.

TIme to launch this in Diesel, its a challenge and costly affair though to integrate AT transmission with Fiat Engine as of now for them. I hope they do it and launch in Swift Diesel.

re: Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

A Diesel Ritz AT would surely eat up the market if priced upto 7 lakhs. There is a void waiting to be filled by diesel automatic hatchbacks at that price range. I am sure many would be interested in a diesel automatic at this side of 7 lakhs.

This is a 4 speed. The screen grabs of the site were put up on the RITZ official review thread yesterday and the discussion began there. Most likely this thread will be merged with that.

btw, is it a 4 speed or a 5 speed transmission?
Automatics are gaining acceptance because of their convenience. Lots of automatics lined up for launch in the coming few months.

This is a 4-speed box in the Ritz.

Nope. Look at the 'Fuel Efficiency' line just above what you highlighted. I wouldn't expect a Diesel hatch AT from any car manufacturer in the near future.
EDIT Also as the first post and the linked article points out, only available in the Vxi trim.

Worth a shot I'd say. The A-Star AT and the DZire AT have returned good amounts of success. The demand for autoboxes in that segment is heating up all the time in urban India.

I think we're looking at petrol only here.

re: Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

It is good to know that manufacturers are coming up with more AT options. What are the chances of Swift getting an AT ?, considering it is already selling heavily. What other hatchbacks are most likely to get an AT soon ?

This is an excellent move by Maruti to tap the growing automatic market. And it's good that they are offering ABS as standard on the only auto variant. The Ritz Auto should be a worthy alternative to the i10 and Brio automatics.

I guess they need to reintroduce the Wagon R Auto with the four-speed box found on the A-Star. A Wagon R Auto would just be so much more practical than its sibling.

Re: Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

Excellent move! This will surely lure customers looking for an automatic car but have no other options to look at other than i10/A-star and Brio. I always liked Ritz even though many people were put off by its shape. One thing I want to ask - a 4 speed automatic - is that bad? I mean is the difference between 4 and 5 speed that great? I do not know much about Automatics but I guess 4 speed is more than enough for at least city driving right? Can some one please list advantages of 5 speed over 4 speed automatic

Re: Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

With the Automatics getting the required sales, shouldn't all the companies get their diesel hatchbacks Auto gearboxes. Diesel sells really well due to what ever reasons and with the Auto diesels it will be really a boon for most. Probably companies can do what Maruti has done with their automatics, diesel only available in the 1 version less than the top and price it at the same or little more than the top end manual version. This will really sell.

Re: Ritz AT unveiled on Maruti website

What's even better is that the manufacturers are finally getting around to pure-play internet website launches, instead of the usual high-cost media launches, and then letting the market and the buzz do the rest. Went to my friendly neighbourhood Maruti dealer, and was told that if I wanted a test drive then I could please my details, and the company would contact me directly - and with a request that if I bought, then that I please buy from them.

This is in Delhi, by the way, and wonder if it is the same in other cities?
