Any updates on when might they launch the car? The spotting of this car in chakan is increasing. Intact can be seen daily near my workplace, Spicer India Ltd.

With the Cross Polo ( 1.2 TDI) being scheduled to be launched shortly
vw is also working on bringing another variant of the CrossPolo later, touted to be more upmarket variant with a spare wheel at the back and VW's new 1.5-litre diesel engine. This could be set for a 2014 launch.

The 1.5 TDI Polo is expected in 2014.

The more upmarket Cross Polo with a bootlid mounted spare wheel and a 1.5-liter diesel engine could be launched next year. This 1.5-liter 4-cylinder unit would essentially be the Vento’s 1.6-liter with a shorter stroke length.

IMHO, Polo is probably the most proportionate and clean looking hatchback in the market today. I really hope that they don't butcher it by adding the spare wheel on the 5th door.

I think the 122ps version is the lowest state of tune of the 1.4TSI engine. So it cannot be probably lesser that. For less than 122ps, there is always 1.2TSI.

If that is the case, it is unlikely that they will launch a Vento with 1.4 TSI. That will leave nothing for Jetta 1.4 TSI's sales, since the latter will hardly more 'premium' Vento in terms of features, and no one will pay more for the same engine and tune in a Jetta.

On the contrary, they just might stop Jetta 1.4 TSI and launch a Vento 1.4 TSI. In my view, that's a better strategy, because it will definitely sell much more.

That also is a possibility. Keeps the distance with Jetta as well.

Not sure why VW keeps coming up with these cosmetic Polo updates that no one is interested in. They first came with the Polo SR - with side skirts but with absolutely no change to the interiors, engine, transmission or critical features. It was a total flop - they have now withdrawn it. Now comes the Cross Polo, just another tweak with just some plastic cladding on the sides. It should actually be cheaper to manufacture because they save some metal and the paint, but then they go and price it at a premium! Another guaranteed flop.

I think they are just trying to play a numbers game, saying to the head office that they have launched "so many new products/variants this year"

Checked out your link. Wildon hasn't replied when a member verified if it is a polo. I think it must be a typo chances are he must've been thinking of polo or must've been distracted for a sec. If the 1.6 tdi is here there would be a huge amount of interest generated and probably gto might review the car.

Yes, even I think it's a typo. Why would a company release cars to the public even before a launch?? I think the customer confused the Vento for a Polo and hence the 1.6 TDi engine came up.

Also, even though chances are slim, but there is a chance VW messed up in giving the right VIN to the customer. With the GT TDI around the corner anyways, some factory guy might have accidently slapped the GT TDI VIN code on this Polo. Since this is not the first time VW has messed up in this regard, I am not surprised.

Remember the GT TSI BHP issue??

Some people who would not normally give a second glance to the Polo do consider it now with the Crosspolo, maybe as an option to the Ecosport. Not exactly sure how or why, but overheard a girl in the office elevator this morning trying hard to explain the Crosspolo from a newspaper ad. She seemed to have finalised the purchase.

I am talking about Polo GT TDI 1.6 MT, not crosspolo. This looks exactly like normal Polo.
