re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

Wonderful looking vehicle. Doesn't look like an add on body kit at all.

Hope we see the fine tuned 90Hp and the new ratio gearbox from the 75hp for faster acceleration.

"However they make, however they design it still looks fantastic"

I think it's just for a differentiation from the regular model and to make the customers "feel" this is a cross over. Last time I saw something similar was in the Pajero SFX.

Edit:: I just hope there is a neat way to remove the stepney holder (from the bumper itself). Without the spare tyre it'll look even hotter is my guess! At least, that's what I'll do if I buy this car.

Overdrive has put up a few nice pics of Avventura.
From the pics, it is very obvious that Aventura will be powered by 90HP MJD for sure.

Now guys please correct me if I am wrong here, at least by the looks Aventura appears to be heavier than the regular 90 HP Sports.

With the added weight and a lethargic MJD, would this really be the choice for people looking at 'Crossover' ??

Are Fiat planning to experiment with the Twin-airs, T-jets, 1.6 MJDs on Punto when the other Indian hatchbacks start sporting 2.0l Engines ?

Why not just buy a Punto Evo and change the alloys, add side cladding and roof rails? Its the same car anyway. Wait a month or two, you might get Rs 1 lakh discount like what they're offering for the new linea now. Invest the saved money into these mods

Speaking of alloys, the design looks similar to the 17 inchers on the Expo car. Are they really 17 inch rims?

Looks like the same 16"ers from the new Punto. The 17" rims look substantially bigger to the eye.

Speaking of which, the car displayed at the Auto Expo (Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014) had projectors, LED DRLs, orange trims and stitches on the steering wheel/handbrake lever etc. Wishful thinking!

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

Looking at this, I am feeling Fiat should have discontinued the Punto altogether instead of launching two very similar products and investing marketing and production efforts on both of them.

After the launch of the Punto Evo, the Avventura has hardly any new things to offer except the fancy cladding and the outside rear wheel. Punto was never a good seller, atleast the Avventura would have looked like a new vehicle in absence of Punto and there would been some novelty factor about it.

Fiat is ruining good products with a bad business strategy.

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

Fiat could have rather just upgraded the interiors of the old Punto and left the exteriors untouched. The exteriors could have then been a key differentiating factor between that and the Avventura.

No. This design looks similar to the 15 inchers on the Evo, only bigger. Punto Evo 16 inchers are weird flower petal design or something

Taking the spare wheel off the boot, the boot space should be bigger than the punto.
Missing projectors are a let down :(
Autocar seems to be impressed with it!

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

Avventura will have 2 engine options 1.4 and 1.3 l, GC at 205

The Punto Evo-based crossover will be available with two engine options – a petrol and a diesel. Fiat will not use the smaller 1.2-liter petrol engine in the Avventura, and will instead offer petrol variants of the car only with the 1.4-liter motor which is good for 89 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. The diesel variant will use the 1.3-liter MultiJet engine, but will be available only in the higher state of tune producing 92 bhp and 209 Nm of torque.
Compared to the Punto Evo, engineers have worked on the Avventura to increase its ground clearance to 205 mm, which is 20 mm more than the Evo.

There goes all hopes of an Avventura TJet.

Wasted opportunity IMO. It's not offered in the Punto, hence an Avventura TJet would have pulled in enthusiasts looking for fun to drive hatch.

Correct. I confused the 15" for the 16" wheels.

These are the 15" wheels:

And these are 16"ers:

The Avventura's wheels have the same design as that of the first pic but just 5 U-shaped spokes instead of the 7 that the Evo's wheels have. And most probably 16 inchers.

I was wondering why they would need homologation for the FIAT 500 again since it was already on sale. But those are the Abarth 500!

Looks like they are going launch a whole range of accessories as well, including a furniture Sofa in 500 shape.

Curious though- why have they imported one 1.3 Diesel 500 for R&D purpose?
