re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

I spotted the Abarth 500 last night on Tumkur Road at the Yeshwantpur Metro Cash & Carry junction. Could not click a snap as I was driving. It was really tiny looking and with 2 doors, it remains to be seen how the market reacts to it. The car was dwarfed by a lovely Toyota Hi-Ace that was struggling through the mad rush of Saturday evening traffic.

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

The Fiat Avventura is scheduled for an all India launch on 21/10/2014. It appears to be a low profile launch as the media hype is almost non-existent till date.

They sell a few hundred Puntos and another few hundred Lineas every month and are lying low for quite sometime now. Its also surprising that with a dynamic CEO like Sergio Marchionne, Fiat ignores a large, growing market like India.

Fiat is yet to launch any car in the new millenium, that can join our Top Ten Best Seller's Club. The Uno's initial hype was shortlived. The Palio sold well again initially, but it soon became history.

Companies like Ford and Renault had their fortunes resurrected with their Figo and later Ecosport and Renault with its Duster. These two companies are like joint families, where one member is earning well, while the others are not.

The Fiat Avventura is not expected to do a Figo, Ecosport or a Duster but is surely destined to make the car lovers notice Fiat.

Avventura gets good response, gets 300 bookings at pre launch, though hopefully not at the expense of Punto Evo!

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

There will be a nice jump in the sales figures of the Punto for the current month. A company in Surat has bought 591 Puntos for it's employees.

Could be the start of 'fleet sales' in the country something that is very common in the Western World, though this order seems like a Diwali gift type of purchase.

Whichever it might be, the fact that Fiat has bagged the order is indeed a feather in their cap.

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

Most of us have heard this news where one Gujarati diamond merchant gifted flats, cars and jewelry to his employees. But one thing which very few people noticed this that the car given to the employees was Punto.

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

Emotion @8.17 Lakhs is almost 1 lakh expensive than the regular 90BHP Punto Evo. I think its priced 20-30K more than it should have been.

re: Fiat's India strategy revealed

The 25k difference between the cross polo can be justified in terms of higher GC, spare mounted wheel, 16 inch alloys. The place where the polo wins is the 1.5 litre engine though !

Fiat's India strategy revealed. Abarth, Jeep coming. More inside!

I don't know whether to take this news with a teaspoon / bucketful/ truckloads of salt!

"Fiat is eyeing volumes of 1.3 lakh units by 2018 from 10,000 in 2013, a compounded annual growth rate of 50% over the next four years."

FIAT has to realise the hard way that volumes won't come so easy for them. Yamaha used to do this mistake a decade back, till they realised what customers wanted from their brand. I hope FIAT realises it's strength and start capitalising on those strengths first.

If someone from FIAT management is listening- plonk the TJet engine in the Avventura first. And try to get a bigger diesel for the Linea ASAP.
