That looks like the Dodge Dart to me. It could very well be a Linea replacement.

That's a photoshopped Fiat Viaggio / Dodge Dart.

Yes, they are the ones who are bashed like hell by those who never ever driven their products. they are the ones who make driver centric cars, even if the market is going the other way.

They are the ones who make cars without compromising on some components. they are not VW, who give doors which close with a thud + the boot with a tinplate. They are not VW which gives a Engine guard made of plastic.

They are not Japanese, who make their cars with Tin Foil (Amul cold coffee can feels stronger) which give extrordinary FE. Man!! you are running on engine. yes, the engine will be strong because it has a body made of Tin foil.

They are the ones who give the best package in the existing market. Check the features of Punto Dynamic + the features of Swift VDI. you will get to know.

Gemi, I can vouch you have been through all the pains a Fiat customer should have . very well atriculated . very few have had the chance to drive extensively other cars and compare and as you said many wouldnt agree . Few are lucky but at the expense of time , pain and frustration . Read service and spares . Once its addressed they are way to go . But as history says , with the objective of 'I' even now its safe to go for a new Fiat product at 2nd or 3rd year of launch for another 3-5 years unless you are mad enough to do repairs other than fluids and easy fit. Swift or any other product is good from suzuki or hyundai as thats more than enough for our roads and customers ( idrive a swift for 1 year nw). Actually the weight , balance , chasis, driving position , angular with the tyres and the steering , feedback all are far above any other car any where near , think only above 15 lakhs . Wish they plonk the real engines ( read similar to the first launched ones ) as they address the service and spare issues.

yesterday after about 6 months i drove a Palio diesel . Nothing to say . Fingers crossed .

Well am surprised that Fiat haven't been able to crack the Indian market after all these years and only now are going about setting up the showrooms and *** network.

You might bring in lots of models/brands but without a couple of them selling volumes they can't get the mindshare of indians. They will always be fringe players and cannot survive in the market.

They just need 2 or 3 new models/brands, maybe a new punto and new linea backed by a good *** network.

Please remember that just as there are fanboys, there are countless out there who probably do not know who fiat is and countless who do not want to buy a fiat again. This calls for getting the mindshare of customer and is possible only through the volume game for Fiat.

Good news indeed, there are many who have been waiting for Jeep. However 35 L does not sound good.

Jeep is a very popular brand all over the world with many fans in India too. I am sure Keep will have its own niche buyers here as well. Looking forward to Jeep!

Re: Jeep Wrangler India debut!!

Ho ho ho, good news indeed. The Jeep family has always appealed to me with its range of understated, timeless styling and performance to boot. And with front and rear live-axles which will make it by far for the serious off-roader!

The 35L price tag seems pretty stiff but then the car is a CBU so I guess much of it is unavoidable and may have to be passed on.

Not sure about the whole "limited appeal" for the Wrangler in India though. With our new-found love for SUVs, you just never know! Unless Jeep makes the Wrangler very impractical for everyday, in-city drives. But knowing them and having driven a Wrangler before, I'd say that is unlikely.

Bring her on Jeep!

Re: Jeep Wrangler India debut!!

The price may be dampener for many who were thinking of the Wrangler. Earlier news was that they would bring the Cherokee for around Rs.40 Lakhs but this Kahani mein twist was not expected. A knowledgeable off-roader may not put Rs. 35L on a Wrangler - some may buy for the badge/brand.

Re: Jeep Wrangler India debut!!

At 40+ OTR, this is not going to be a volume game. CBUs can never work well for a car in this segment in India. This might just help Jeep to start operations at a very small level and try to establish its very small presence. And if they get serious, it will be another 4 - 5 years till they locally built cars and price it sensibly.

Keeping the mechanics and capabilities aside, this is a bigger Armada to most.

Why do companies make half hearted attempts. Does the research team check if any single CBU model has ever succeeded in India in the segment below 60 lakhs.

Even if Wrangler is made CKD and priced at 25L ex-showroom, it still will be a flop. We have few takers for Thar and the like. How many will go for Wrangler? It is not meant for regular office-goers or those with large families.

A CBU will make the brand name visible to potential customers of upcoming cheaper cars. Investments will also be low, and the manufacturer can reserve all budget to design these cheaper cars. Also, it will keep the sales low, so that the manufacturer needs to train fewer mechanics, and customers can be met with near-empty service centres which can address their cars immediately.

The HOT news just got HOTTER. ACI speculates on Punto Abarth.

Quote:
Fiat plans to launch its performance brand Abarth here in 2013. Unlike the Mini Cooper S, the company plans to make the Abarth here more affordable and price a locally configured and produced Grande Punto version at around Rs 8-9 lakh.

The Grande Punto is currently available with a 66bhp petrol variant, a 75bhp diesel variant and an 89bhp diesel edition. For Abarth, the company is most likely to use the existing 1.4-litre T-jet motor and pump up the power output to 165bhp, which should improve performance considerably
