Re: Fiat's India strategy revealed. Abarth, Jeep, new Linea & Punto coming. More insi

I sometimes wonder what is going on within the Fiat HQ & Fiat India wrt to their plans announced earlier. They have such great products but this sheer reluctance of not launching them here with one reason or another is not helping them. Even now after having a 100 dealer strong network they are in a kind of sleep mode

They're not in sleep mode or anything. Since they'd committed some things much earlier (thread opened from Dec '12), they still strategizing on what they'd committed to the press and ways to deliver it. Please allow them more time (of course I'm being sarcastic).

Far from any action, only press releases and spy pics. Even Fiat fans who're friends and FIAT vehicle owners are frustrated with their approach. When Suzuki starts using their own diesel engines, FIAT will know the trouble that they're in, that they've created for themselves..

Pity!

Is FIAT planning to launch this in India anytime soon? Looking at the pics, the dimensions appear to be just right for the type of vehicle I am looking for.

Any idea about the price range this might be launched at?

Is there any insider news regarding which small car Fiat is launching?
Any chance of Palio being relaunched, since platform is already there so no huge investment is needed IMO.

I am surprised that we all are discussing new scoops and launches of Fiat India when they are struggling to live up to the expectations of an Indian consumer with just two variants.

Most cautious buyers would not put their money at risk till such time Fiat sets an example of good after sales and service network.

A customer deserves to be given proper care and attention that he deserves and the way Fiat has neglected this area with limited sales and dealers only highlights that they are still not ready to handle other products and more numbers.

I believe this thread is meant to discuss about the scoops and new launches from Fiat and not about the 'So Called' bad customer service from Fiat. We have N number of threads to discuss the same and Fiat can be criticized there.

IndiaAutoBlog has released a spied picture of 'Punto Avventure'. From the picture, it is not looking any different to me than the current Punto except for the rear.

Well the main thing you missed are the T-Jet alloys. Only a true Fiat Fan can look for smallest of the differences hehe!

And we all know that those wheels come together with only 1 model " The EPIC TurboJet Petrol"

What is Fiat up to? Putting spare wheel on tailgate will not do any good to this beautiful car.

Nothing adventurous in this IMO

What they really need to do is bring in the Palio Adventure Locker which is sold in Brazil. A sub 10lakh price tag and that 1.3 diesel (minus the locking differential mechanism to keep costs low) will definitely set Fiat's sales charts on fire.

Reinforcing the rear door to accommodate the spare tire, adding extra mounting brackets, etc. is going to increase the overall kerb weight of the already heavy car.

So with the current engine line-up, getting the car to move quickly off the line IS the adventure they are referring to.

Ha ha ha you made my day man.
Well, not only it will increase weight but length will also cross small car norm of the excise resulting in higher rate of duty and increasing price further.

This being posted 'cause it's the thing to bash Fiat or you have any genuine issues with your Fiat ?

I have a Fiat myself for nearly two years now and have used their service centres in different cities for routine services as well as parts replaced under warranty with no issues at all. Further a couple of Fiat specific forums that I am a part of are full of more positive reviews than unsatisfactory or negative ones. Fiat has got it's priorities correct as in they are strengthening their sales and service network. Ramped up from a number one could count on fingers of a single hand to 100 now and on the way to 150 by end of this year. Who cares if they bring in new models this year or the next as long as they are taking good care of existing customers

If one were to read the body length definition w.r.t. the excise benefits one would realise that the length of the spare wheel hung on the rear door/bumper is not counted towards the body length. The dimensions that matter are from one bumper to the other one.

Has there been any Abarth Sightings of late? Seemingly even discussions regarding the Abarth have come down. But if the 1.4 t-jet makes it into this car, it will be atleast some thing to cheer about. Even for normal owners, the tail-light here looks like a good cross fit on a normal Punto.

Totally in sync with you on the first part of your post, there is an innate bully in people which comes out whenever word 'fiat' is mentioned, don't know why though. I think they should give them benefit of doubt here. Having failed multiple times in the market they are being cautious.

That being said, sir we do care whether they bring in new models this year or not. For those of us keenly looking forward to some exciting models this delay is killing the excitement. Frankly, i think it will be too late if they launch a model after all the buzz goes down. End of the day if new models fail (because of one reason or other) the existing customers get effected (quality availability etc.)

This exclusivity no longer applies. Those 16 inch wheels are now standard equipment on the top specification diesel Linea too.
