Wow!!! That Fiat Aegea looks smashingly good!!!

Always felt that Fiat Linea had understated elegance and some similarities to the old gen Hyundai Verna meant that it never tugged at the heart of the general masses.

This one though shall easily be the looker of the segment and even for a class above. Add to that an already firecracker of a TC petrol engine and to throw in the 120 bhp diesel, Honda City better start getting worried....

The new facelifted linea was launched on 2013 i believe. Correct me if i am wrong here. Will the Aegea be launched 3 years from the launch of the new one. I doubt it. Fiat will take atleast 5 years to launch Aegea from 2013 given the history of their launches in India. So we are looking at 2018 and God knows what all models will be in competition by then and would be no surprise if all manufacturers ditch the higher displacement and go in for the turbo's or the ecoboost kinds.

Aegea looks wonderful. No Doubt. But Time is money ! Aint it !

Honda nor Maruti need not worry. it is mentioned that Aegea ( New Linea) will not be here until 2018.

India and Latin America will continue to offer the outgoing version for another two years.

That's not going to happen. I read somewhere that it will have a different name close to launch.

The design is clean and fresh... Yet not timeless like the current Linea. Mid 2017 launch looks appropriate.

Totally agree!
In states, they sell Dodge, RAM, Jeep et all under one roof. Thereby, having total no. of showrooms for any brand much higher. Fiat already have good coverage in India, then why to start from scratch for Jeep? Just to differentiate Jeep and just so that people see Jeep as a separate entity than Fiat? Doesn't make sense to me.

Hard to digest. But yes its the sole reason. Given the legacy that is associated with the brand name FIAT in India, it is better to have a separate entity. But will it work, only time will tell !

My guess is that it won't work. Reason is simple, the prospective Jeep buyer knows for a fact that Jeep is owned by Fiat and it is Fiat that is bringing the Jeep brand to India. So separate showrooms don't matter at all. What matters is their service and Customer Care which should be no less than excellent if they wish to sell their car at >25 Lakh Rupees. It is niche money, so have same Fiat showrooms sell Jeep too, just pump the guys up and have the same place look bigger and better or something like that.

Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne approached another troubled car maker the General Motors CEO Ms Barra for an alliance of their European operations in an attempt to consolidate their operations and cut operating costs to save money. However the suggestions was put down by the GM CEO as the proposal did not interest them and that they had their own plan for the product development

At the end of April, Marchionne publicly made a plea for shrinking the number of players in the global auto industry as his company reported lower-than-expected first-quarter results.

Barra said on May 4 she had not held talks with Marchionne and that GM would continue to follow its own plan regarding investing in product development.

Fiat Chrysler has one of the highest debt levels in the industry and barely breaks even in Europe. Analysts say it is expected to burn cash for years to revamp its neglected Alfa Romeo brand, and may struggle to find a partner.

Is Fiat desperate to find its foothold in the already competitive European market. An Alliance with GM would have meant accessing the American market which so far has eluded Fiat.

Was browsing the Fiat India website and esp on the Abarth page, saw that the car will be sold only through exclusive dealers which are 4 as of now. Surprisingly western zone has been left out from the list for selling the Abarth.

RDC Motors Chennai too is an existing dealer for Fiat at the same address given. I expect sales for Abarth will be low (and I expect Fiat expects it too), it really makes no sense to open dedicated dealers for it. But then I think it makes no sense for Jeep either... A bit surprised Mumbai/Pune aren't on the list though! Probably negotiations are ongoing.

Fiat Aegea (the Linea replacement) might not be in Fiat India's immediate plans, but it looks well and truly the future Linea replacement by 2017, as per this roadmap for Fiat and it's future plans for India:

In 2014, the FCA announced that its launch cadence for the Indian market would see the next generation Linea arrive in mid-2017. It is believed that a locally adapted version of the Aegea is the model in the pipeline, unless Fiat pull off a surprise sedan within 2 years.

Was checking out the Aegea unveiling video on You Tube where it was announced that this a the new Global car from Fiat which will be introduced in 40 countries in the Europe, Africa and Middle East.

So India doesn't seem to be in the immediate plans for the Aegea.
