Is this the 2012 Cruze on display?

I thought that they don't have an option of projectors/DRL's in any of the variants. Has this been added now or what?

Today is the last day of the SBT Asianet Auto expo at Kochi and I did pay a hurried trip through the show.

The organizers saved perhaps, on infrastructure as it was the same venue where the Vanitha Utsav concluded only couple of days before the Auto Expo commenced.

It was a damp squib as there were not much to see out there. And in this era of internet, auto series in even the regional channels and a lot of auto mags could have taken the fizz out of such shows and ultimately it turns out to be of the mediocre kind.
But still, in emerging metros like Kochi there won't be much shortage of visitors especially on holidays like today.

Maruti, Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata could not offer anything new as there are plenty of their road sales shows which one can come across in almost every junction where there is some space.
Tata Safari Storm alone turned out to be an exception with their motocross kind of show where visitors could hitch hike a ride.

Here the SCMS school of Engineering and Technology, an engineering college located on the outskirts of Kochi needs to be commended as their cutaway working models was a boon to laymen who are not into automobile engineering. Their boys did a splendid job of teaching those with a will and time to learn. They had a cutaway model of a Premier Padmini and an engine testing unit where a torque dynamometer was connected to a Daewoo Cielo engine.
Another focal point was a Ford Fairline exhibited in the Ford India's corner.
Maruti om its part, as they had nonew offerings, to grab attention did a bumper swap on a white Ertiga from a graphite coloured one.

Now let the pictures do the talking. My sony conked off a fortnight back and is still with the service guys. So my mobile is the culprit for the poor quality which may be condoned.

Actually the whole event was quite sad. No exciting cars. Only things worth of mention was the Duke (forgot whether it was a 250). Then the Harley Davidson stall and the Storme off roading demo that was really entertaining. The rest was just down right BORING! What a total waste of time and effort.

MRF Formula 2000 racing car which was unveiled by Narain Karthikeyan in last August 2012 was an attractive exhibit in the MRF area.

SCMS Engineering College caught many visitors' attention.

TATA with the Prima and Bharetbenz were the attention grabbers in the heavy vehicles section.

As for the Cruze its very hard to believe such a design from Chevrolet because here in Mumbai I have seen two Cruzes till date with similar(95% same as above) after-market headlights(DRLs of the kind of A8L) and the tail light straight copied from the new E-Class(In fact today one of the said cruzes was tailing an E-Class and I could not make out a single difference between the two cars' tail light set ups).
Here the tail light is copied bang from the 7 series.

Safari Storme was at its best during the Terra Pod activity outside the covered area of the show. This is the same terra pod where the Storme was shown to the media during the car's launch Kochiites were happy to be a part of the activity and there were long ques always. Two 4x4 Stormes were dishing out some exhilarating stuff out there.

It is nothing more than a modded Cruze.

I too visited the "Auto Show" with my friend on Saturday. A decent used car showroom has more cars than the SBT Asianet Auto Expo. I was in and out of the Expo within 20 minutes. What a waste of time and money. For me the major disappointments were:-
1. Yamaha brought only scooters (Why didn't they just stab me in my heart!?)
2. We were expecting Porsches, Lambos. But even Audi, BMW and Benz were absent. I think even Nissan was absent.
3. Expo supposed to start at 10AM. Started at 11AM.
4. Except VW and Hyundai no other carmaker brought their full lineup.

Disappointed to say the least. Hope I win the lucky draw though. Not sure what I will win though.

Exactly my views.. Nissan was however present. Missed most of the manufacturers. The heavy vehicles section with Bharath Benz, Eicher and Tata displaying huge trucks was a saving. The Tata Safari Storme on the trails was also an eye catcher.

It was good for me to see both the CBR 250R and the KTM DUke 200 under the same roof. Saved going to the Honda showroom.

There was a new tyre brand on display in the show named Ralaco who are into two and three wheeler tyres for the present with manufacturing facility in Ludhiana. It was told that the company has opened a branch office at Kochi and would be launching car tyres pretty soon.
