In the sedans, the boot and bonnet are supposed to be the main crumple zone which inturn protect the passenger cell.

what bout SUV/MUV(like innova, scorpio), which just have bonnet and no boot?

so is there no protection when there is a collision on the back of these vehicles?

Such cars have strenghtened rear ends...some might even posses crumple zones...but space constraints would really hamper the degree of protection.

In CRV, the rear space is a crumple zone, so they advice no occupancy in the rear space.
