Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

The Corolla looks really good now. Much more aggressive lines. What a perfect upgrade to anyone having a current Altis (wink wink).

I am a little disappointing that Toyota has no new technology at all with such a new model. Even the engines are just carried over from the current Indian Altis. The only thing new is Valvematic which is just valve control for better efficiency. That's sad.

Even the rear suspension is still a torsion beam and not independent.

It's basically new skin and new interiors on an existing platform.

Front reminds me of Civic/Etios and rear looks like modded last generation Camry.

Overall looks excellent for a Toyota.

Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

According to reports the new Corolla will come in 2014 to India. Why are they taking so long is the question? Why couldnt they have done the Indian homologation while the car was being tested internationally. We will get the ASEAN version which IMHO is not as nice as the US version. The US version is sportier to look at while the ASEAN version keeps alive the safe styling that appeals to the family buyer.

This 2nd hand treatment makes me sick man! What does the American market have to offer that the Indian market doesn't? Our money is as good as theirs, if not better, then why this crappy treatment to the Indian market?

Volumes. How many Corolla's do we sell here every month? Usually in first or first few line off countries the initial investment required for a new model is relatively high as compared to countries where the same model is launched later. So usually the first few line off countries are those where the volumes are high. This usually helps them recover the initial cost faster.

Now, if India was to be among the 1st line line off countries Toyota would be forced to price it higher to recover the higher initial cost. Same applies to all other manufacture's. In my opinion, this makes sense and there is nothing step motherly or '2nd hand' about this.
Hope this helps.

I just hope it stays the same for Indian Corolla in terms of interior and headlight design as it is in the case of US version

Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

What do you think it'll be priced at? A guy I know at Nandi Toyota (Bangalore) said they're expecting a "22L onwards" price tag. I'd say, realistically, around 17-19/20L Tops (for the 2.0l Diesel Automatic variant).

Whatsay others?

These dealers need to be be sent to ethics school ! Just because they want there current stocks to sell, they lie and scare potential customers about the prices of upcoming cars. This is the story everywhere.
The new Corolla will come in at similar prices as the current one and there is no reason why it should cost over 22L? Whats wrong with this dealer?

I think the hatchback version of the Toyota Carolla is featured in the 20th season episode one of the show Top Gear... Check it out.

Whoever told you that Toyota is bringing Corolla with 2.0 L Diesel with automatic gearbox?

There won't be any changes to the engines viz a viz current lineup. There may be some improvement to the manual diesel (in terms of driveability i.e improved low end torque and less turbo lag). New Corolla might come with Electric Power Steering.

All Toyota's offerings currently in our market come with EPS. So the new corolla would not be any different.

Just wishful thinking. Also feel the current diesel engine is underpowered for a D segment sedan. Y'know what? Drive the present Corolla Altis diesel & then drive the Manza (viz. a C segment sedan at half the price) back to back. Atleast to me, Manza feels the exact same in terms of comfort (space, seating posture-lumbar support) & has quite some equipment (touch-screen sat-nav, Bluetooth, ACC et al.). No wonder these D segment sedans have been losing out and turning into depreciation disasters.

So, Toyota better do itself a favour and offer the 2.0l Diesel, else IMHO there's no use of such launches where just the wrapping is different. Afterall its the 11th gen Corolla, I expect atleast some improvement in the Diesel engine offered.

Off topic:
But Innova, Fortuner, Prado and LC200 still employ the Hydraulic Power Steering

Re: Launch of new Corolla & Innova by Mid-2015?

Engine options for the 2014 -Corolla revealed!

European version:

The base Corolla gets a 1.33-liter Dual VVT-i engine (the same engine powers the iQ, the smallest Toyota in the world) that makes 98hp and 128Nm. Paired to a six-speed transmission, it delivers a fuel efficiency of 5.6L/100km (17.85km/l).

The second variant is the 1.6-liter Dual VVT-i which is rated at 120hp and 154Nm with a fuel efficiency of 6.6L/100km (15.15km/l). The third variant, a derivative, is the 1.6-liter Valvematic engine which puts out 130hp and 160Nm with a fuel consumption figure of 6L/100km (16.66km/l).

The fourth and most powerful petrol engine is the 1.8-liter Dual VVT-i that is married to a Multidrive S automatic transmission. The engine here delivers 138hp and 173Nm with a fuel consumption of 6.4L/100km (15.62km/l).

The fifth and most important engine would be the big-selling motor in India. The same 1.4 D-4D turbodiesel from the current generation takes its place on the incoming Corolla too. The unit develops 89hp and 205Nm to return a fuel economy of 3.8L/100km (26.31km/l). This engine is also available with Toyota’s six-speed Multimode transmission (that uses an electronically operated clutch) and Stop-Start motor.
