Tata JLR's Pune plant is commencing production of the Jaguar XF.

With a 2.2-litre diesel engine (187 BHP & 450 Nm torque), the XF has an entry price of 44.5 lakhs. Important to note that road taxes for CKDs are also lower than the same for CBUs. The XF will be built alongside the Land Rover Freelander 2 which has been produced in Pune since May 2011.

Standard features include a rear view camera, TV Tuner, navigation system, front passenger seat away, touch screen, gear shifting paddles, full size spare wheel, electric sunroof, rear screen electric blind and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jaguar Land Rover India sold 2,393 cars in 2012 (up from 1,813 cars in 2011).

What was its price earlier? I thought there were projections for a bigger drop.

Has the price of the 3.0L XF come down? Dealers are currently offering a flat 6L discount on 3.0L XF's.

Good move I'd say. Tough competitor to the 520/525d... But with just 187bhp on tap, I expected it to be priced just below the 40L mark.

Jaguar Mulls Manufacturing Cars in India.

Quote:
JLR is looking at options to build its cars and expand its manufacturing footprint beyond the U.K.
JLR assembles the Jaguar XF sedan and the Land Rover Freelander sport utility vehicle at the same facility where parent Tata Motors builds cars and trucks, but imports fully built vehicles for the XK and XJ sedans, as well as the Evoque and Discovery SUVs.
Global auto makers have been expanding their manufacturing footprint in India to lower costs and produce cheaper vehicles for the large domestic market.
However, analysts said Jaguar Land Rover's sales volume in India don't justify the cost of setting up a manufacturing facility in the country

Re: Jaguar launches India-Assembled XF @ 44.5 lakhs

With the kind of sales that Tata is seeing, it would be just a few months wait before JLR can exclusively use some of the manufacturing facilities of Tata. Tata are having a huge surplus capacity now compared to their sales numbers.

Re: Jaguar launches India-Assembled XF @ 44.5 lakhs

This car now, is a serious contender in the segment. The level of kit on offer is unmatched by any of the rivals from BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Rear view camera, TV Tuner, Navigation System, Paddle Shifts are are only stuff of the top-bananas 530d/E350/A6 (with all the optional packages). A full-size spare wheel is a huge plus, only the Merc from the German trio offers that. I think even the A6 has a space-saver and as we all know of BMW's in India with the run-flats.

Albiet pricier than the entry level German's. This is a very good alternative to the luxury car buyer who could really stand out with a Jag (compared to the number of German's you see on metropolitian roads these days).

Ohh and that interior! Rising Air-vents and a circular gear-lever! That sense of occasion alone justifies the higher price tag IMO

British car maker, Jaguar is now offering its XF saloon with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine in India. The introduction of this engine will allow the company to price the car closer to its rivals with similar engine capacities.
