The VFM proposition is lacking with the Jetta 1.4 TSI. And the 1.4 TSI just does not sound as refined as the others. No doubt, the 6MT gearbox is a marvel to use.
No stock Civic does 0-100 below 9 seconds. Was around 9.5 if I remember correctly, maybe even a bit more. The Jetta isn't that much slower.

Re: Laura TSI DSG on Skoda India's website!

Yes, Civic is 9.5 to 10.x to the ton. Well the Jetta is definately not that much slower. With its much better torque figures, its drivability would also be better. Jan sales numbers seem to be decent for the Jetta compared to its not so vfm tag though majority would be diesel sales.

Moving back to the thread topic, how many people would be interested in the AT TSI considering the instances of me-ch-tr-nic failures. A 50k difference over the diesel which is nearly as fast is not a good idea. Guess the discounts will make up for more difference.

Re: Laura TSI DSG on Skoda India's website!

So any idea what kind of discounts are being offered on the TSI AT? or the other variants?

True but since its a petrol vehicle. And the current way of things are diesel and we are discount loving Indians, why not ask for it before hand, in a very very unapologetic way. haha.

I am actually looking at everything under the sun in that range and looking to make a kill in best possible deal. Everything, Accord, XUV, Laura, Jetta etc etc. Everything. No fuel type and no car type.

Not a problem, from what I hear and also judging by the fact that only one TSI was sold last month, there may not be many in stock to begin with but considering the Corolla auto is also around, discounts are possible

Re: Laura TSI DSG on Skoda India's website!

Did a bit more reading on skoda website-

Here are the changes as per the specs on the site -

1- Touchscreen audio player for all AT models even in Ambition Trim
2- Bluetooth + HandsFree for all AT models even in Ambition Trim
2-1 GSM telephone preparation with Bluetooth
2-2 Telephone controls on multi-function steering wheel
2-3 Bluetooth audio streaming
2-4 Simultaneous operation of Hands Free Profile (HFP) and Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)

3- Audio controls on steering wheel (for automatic transmission)

4- MaxiDOT – large pixel display of multi function data and warning messages (for automatic transmission) all AT models even in Ambition Trim

5- Alloy wheels 16, Draconis (for automatic transmission) even in Ambition Trim

GOOD STUFF SKODA!! Finally right before a model is killed off in India(already stopped production in Global), you introduce features that would have made this model a ROARING hit at launch.

The protagonist view on this would be that they plan to continue the laura for another couple of years and bring the new body as the Octavia.

The antagonist in me says that this is due to excess spares lying in global inventory which cannot be used into the new model, being pumped into limited/final run of the old model.

Re: Laura TSI DSG on Skoda India's website!

Officially official. Spec Sheet for the run out of the Indian Skoda Laura right from Skoda Central.

All rumors confirmed. Just one thing which may be a typeo or not. 195 on 16 inch rims for the TSI AT? Most likely a typeo.

Pics of the exterior with the 16s is on skoda's facebook page.

Re: Laura TSI DSG on Skoda India's website!

IMO anyone purchasing this is on a suicide mission.

Reasons:
1. DQ200
2. Petrol
3. Internationally shelved model

What's Skoda India even thinking? Are they really here to sell cars? I wonder.

IMHO, no harm in giving the customer an extra option to choose from. And the AT Ambition is quite well loaded now.

Anyway, the nos. are not huge. If you look at last month's sales chart, its just one 1.8 TSI v/s 169 units of 2.0 TDI. Who knows, there maybe some buyers in the market who had this wish of having a 1.8 TSI Laura with a DSG AT

Globally VAG is saying that the issues with DQ200 7-speed is now pretty much ironed out. They are continuing with the same gearbox in newer models as well (e.g.; MK7 Golf TSI).

Re: Laura TSI DSG on Skoda India's website!

Just as an aside regarding the a/t tranny, my superb dsg(1st batch sold in india) developed the much *loved* mechatronic failure. Since this was bought before extended warranty was offered, i figured i would be out a substantial bit of money. Was pleasantly surprised when skoda offered a free replacement under a so called "goodwill" warranty. Labour was however charged. Just wanted to share this and let people know that the DQ200 problems are not being completely ignored by VAG and that they are definitely taking steps to easing the ownership of cars with it. This particular engine/tranny combo is a beautiful piece of machinery despite its mechatronic problems and an absolute pleasure to drive. I believe the combo would be even better in the Laura than it is in the superb.
