Buy a Skoda Rapid, Get a Fabia Free (after 5 years)!

Surprising or amazing.. falling sort of words to express myself. Certain questions that wink in my mind.

1. How is this possible?
2. Is it a commitment from the dealer or the manufacturer (Skoda)?
3. Will they be there in the market after 5 years?
5. Are they going to give Fabia made in 2013?
6. Does Skoda think that they will keep on manufacturing this poor market performing Fabia for next 5 years?
7. Do they have this scheme pan India?

Lets see how other manufacturers are reacting to it.

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! I won't touch a single car from that stable until their customer grievance handling part is sorted out. Maybe they are very confident that after 5 years the Rapid bought by the customer will conk off irreperably and so they are already provisioning for it by offering another Skoda as a replacement

Sorry to all present Skoda owners, no offence meant, but just couldn't resist it !

While I was reading TOI today morning, a news caught my attention. VW has come up with a scheme wherein you can exchange your existing car with VW Vento for just Rs. 1-/ and pay the balance amount AFTER 1 YR, in 36 installments. Or you have one more option of paying 50% amount of car value now, and rest 50% AFTER 1 YR.

Since this came in just today morning, I haven't got a chance to visit a dealer here in Pune to check if there are any astericks in this offer !! And more importantly, whether they are offering 2013 manufactured cars under this scheme. Will try to find out today/tomorrow.

This involves lot of money spinning I guess! Of course in legal ways. And a lot of maths I guess too.

If they can pull-up something as risky as this as a business proposition (read out of desperation), why not settle Mr. Harish Kanchan's case in an amicable way. That's only a car that's gonna cost them, but at least they take home some respect...and a lot of prospective buyers.
I like Skoda models, but that goes without saying then until & unless the particular case is not settled in a fair manner, I won't touch a Skoda!

This offer was actually floated a few days back , they have it up on their website as well now..... if i recall correctly , i saw it on Monday .

TOI today mentions the specific Gujarat Dealer as having 11 operations in Gujarat and as having sold 600 units since the offer start in Feb. That is huge for Skoda for one state. We would ofcourse know the real numbers when Skoda Rapid sales figures are out in March.

I still do not get the financials in this i.e. how the present profits on a Rapid (even if sold at MRP) can be worth Rs. 3.5L+ in 5 years time.

This offer has indeed become national news now. Today's TOI had two inserts of the same - one on the front page news capsule and a bigger article on the Business times page.

My heart really goes out to existing Fabia owners. It must really hurt a lot if they go somewhere and anybody mentions - "Dude, do you know they are giving your car away for free these days!"

The income tax angle on account of "Gift" status of the fabia as raised by diffsoft is something everyone concerned must have overlooked. But you never know what will happen till 2018. Maybe automobiles will get exempted from all kinds of taxes (going by recent sales performance trends of the industry leaders)

Just ran into this thread coincidentally.
Now that the 5 years are up, curious if any of the customers who bought the Rapid have received the Rs 3.5 lakh as promised?

Looks like those owners have been rapidly moved out of Skoda Family. Could not even take it for 5 years even though Fabia was waiting for them
