Re: *Rumour* - VW developing sub-4 meter Vento?

Segments are shifting no doubt VW Vento should have been in 8-9 L category but goes into 10+ segment

VW Polo should be best priced 6 L but goes into 7+ range

Another example is the Verna (previous gen i.e. non fluidic) where it used to be in the 8L range but now some variants of the Fluidic Verna go 12+

With this trend there may be a possibility of squeezing in an shortened Vento.

And i tell you what this kinda makes the Vento look somehow sporty

Re: *Rumour* - VW developing sub-4 meter Vento?

Volkswagen evaluating sub-four-metre saloons.

VW is evaluating a sub-four-metre Vento and an Up-based compact saloon for India. Only one will make it to production though.

VW is clear; it wants the best possible compact saloon for India.

Fast emerging as a profitable segment considering the likes of DZIRE and Amaze, and with lucrative numbers in monthly sales VW isventuring into the compact saloon segment as priority.

VW considers right price, space, features as potential elements as customer buying criteria, hennce VW wants to be on target and hence the two solutions in evaluation.

Alternate 1 - Sub 4m Vento -(PQ25 platform)

*Rumour* - VW developing sub-4 meter Vento?-0_0_0_0_70_http___i_haymarket_net_au_news_compact_vw_vento_1_2_copy.jpg

Pros:
The car will have more space on the inside than the Polo, and because it will be taxed as a compact, it will be much more affordable than the Vento. Also, because VW will have to pay less tax, it will have a larger budget to spend on features, options and accessories.

Cons:
Design challenge as the car will have to be heavily modified, both at the front and rear, to make it duck under four metres, and it could look odd. Also VW wouldn’t be able to sell this car in other markets, so justifying the expense will be difficult.

Alternate :2 -Up city car (PQ12 New Small Family platform)

Taigun Layout

*Rumour* - VW developing sub-4 meter Vento?-0_0_0_0_70_http___i_haymarket_net_au_news_taigun.jpg

Pros:
Up saloon on the Taigun’s longer 2470mm wheelbase; the Taigun - compact SUV, after all, is built on the same platform as the Up
This would help the manufacturer leverage tremendous economies of scale since the Taigun has all but been signed off for India.
This could enable Taigun for an earlier launch date for India

Challenges:
The company’s 1500cc diesel is already being worked on (coded EA189), but it will have to be ready if VW chooses to go with the sub-four-metre Vento.

And should the Up-based saloon be selected, VW will have to work hard to fit its new 1,400cc three-cylinder diesel (coded EA288) under the hood. This engine will, in all likelihood, power the Taigun. But VW will have to extend the nose of the car to make it fit; the engine is a bit too wide.

Thats an horrible looking Vento IMHO. What will it be called? Vento CS?. Vento was selling decent numbers, why to finger the brand image by building a car just to gain the excise exempts?

Vento will still be sold in the current configuration. This sub Vento will enter the sub 4 m segment.

Weird looking. It's just gonna take away all the charm from Polo / Vento.

Not sure, just adding a boot can leverage more space in the inside. I don't think Polo / Vento is known for the space inside - so having additional space may NOT be a point at all. Else they probably are looking at a scooped seat - but then that should be the same provided for both Polo & vento versions too, for scale of production.
