Mod Note : The Nissan Micra Facelift Review is live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!
Thailand based pulsar club website has released, what appears to be the facelifted version of Nissan Micra.
IAB has published the translated page with more India specific attributes.
- New headlamps, grill, fog lamps and bumper.
- The Nissan logo is cradled by a chrome trough
- New rear bumper and redetailed tail lamps.
Nothing much on the interior changes or the possibility of the CVT version though.
Here are the pictures;

The chubbiness is gone. Liked the incorporation of the corporate Nissan grill. Liked the new golden brown color. The fog lamps look out of context, too big, resembles the one on the i20; need to see one head on for the final verdict. Glad that the bumper corner inserts are gone. Alloys are not to my liking. So are the blackened B-pillars. Tail lamps definitely needed a refresh from the current Ambassador look-alike. Hexagonal numberplate recess (from another peek-view) at the rear not to my liking.
indianautosblog.com opines "With the refreshed look, the Nissan Micra is bound to attract more lads while still managing to be appealing to the lasses" Bring on the CVT, Nissan
Grille seems to be a straight lift from the Nissan Patrol. The alloys add a touch of class. The femininess is less evident now.
The front end looks even more weird and the fog is a mis-fit. The rear looks good but the change is subtle, the tail-lamp looks similar to the ones on Pulse.
Lugging this flop design is doing nissan more harm than good. They should just bite the bullet and in the interest of retaining customers, come out with another all new micra. Not just a face lifted model.
It makes me shiver with disgust to think that the same people that designed, build and sell the GT-R Skyline also build and sell this model.
They've incorporated the V grill to give the Nissan family face to the Micra which is a good thing. But what Micra needs to shed is its feminine curves and this hasn't happened with this facelift, unfortunately! The entire silhouette needs a radical departure from its current form to appeal to the macho club.
This design has much more mass appeal than the previous gen love it or hate it design. Much more Pulse like? Even the alloys are based on the Renault's design. Sure. But that's a good thing.
I like the incorporation of the V to the grill - gives it a nice family look. It's like, you know it's a Nissan when you spot the V, just as much as you know its a BMW when you spot those kidneys.
Looking forward to this one and it might just be a good replacement for my aging Santro!
Don't see a huge difference in terms change. Those twin creases on the roof look new as design. Agree with 9thsphinx, it'll have mass appeal.
Off Topic: Liked that second picture. Guy running behind to capture an image of the car. :)

No Sir..the boomerang shape was present from the start.

Boomerang shape on the roof is purposeful. Firstly, it eliminates the need for a (roof) stiffener. Wind noise is also better controlled: |

They are actually purposeful. Manufacturers claim it allows them to get away with using lighter / cheaper roof metal, eliminates the need for a roof stiffener (sic) and wind noise is also better controlled.
Usually seen in low-cost cars with a light kerb weight. Examples:
Maruti Alto
Tata Nano
Toyota Liva

Yes, I know this. Any sheet metal (or even a sheet of paper) when folded for crease gains stiffness to a great extent.
The revised Micra looked a bit grown up - though obviously fresher but there seemed to be a bit of a loss of the character that draws many of the fairer folks to it. Front is more like the Nissan family look though.
Good that Nissan is working on the Micra facelift. The blackened B Pillar looks very nice and alloys look swell. They must now bring the following features to the Micra to compete it's rivals:
5 speed CVT transmission.
Front Passenger Airbag + ABS,EBD and BA
If they can,They must bring B and C pillar airbags to compete against the i20.
All new HU with Bluetooth,USB,AUX,FM -AM and CD capability.
An all new instrument console with MID.
Steering mounted audio controls.
Most importantly the 87 BHP version of the K9K will definitely make it a hot hatch.
By these steps,The Micra can blow away the Polo,Punto,i20 and mainly the Swift.
Cheers,
Achyuth
