Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

It certainly looked shorter than ecosport. And it resembled a hatchback more than an SUV to me

It's size and profile reminds me of Nissan Juke.

+1
This should be competing with Etios Cross and likes. Even the wheel size does not justify a SUV tag for this car, it is rather a good Verito Vibe replacement. It also looks smaller than SX4 crossover.

The Mahindra S101 could get a bench seat at the front.

The Mahindra compact SUV is likely to be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine that is expected to produce 80 bhp.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Will the next news article be about Mahindra deciding not to call it a mini SUV and call it a proper hatchback?

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

The interiors of the S101 carry a new grey, black and beige theme. The interiors appear more modern in comparison to the Quanto and Xylo. Even the 3-spoke steering wheel is new with mounted controls for audio and telephony. The wiper and headlight stalks appear to be lifted from the Scorpio and the instrument cluster features an MID too. The controls for the automatic climate control as well as the audio system and the door armrest with power windows are partially visible in the spy pictures.

A crucial revelation is the dash-mounted gear lever, similar to what we have seen in hatchbacks like the Ritz and i10. This helps to free up space in the central area. Mahindra have cleverly provided an unconventional bench seat in the front, like the Datsun Go. We only need to wait and see whether they market this car as a 6-seater (3+3) or a 5-seater.

Do notice the detailing on the ORVMs and the pull-type door handles too.

I saw this in Chennai on the road to sriperumbedur. Is this the same car? It looked very small. Almost the same size as an Santro.

It's either a Ford or Mahindra. The inside was bereft of plastic and you could see bare metal inside. The driver was testing something on a computer. The car seemed to have an ac.

Seems to be Mahindra. Ford do better. I'm already hating it a lot and every new spy pic adds to the hatred! It's too curvy too.

It looks like an over blown micra. Obviously the production version will be a lot different with probably larger wheels. But still it looks pretty dumb by silhouette and profile to me.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Calling this hatch an SUV (albeit a compact SUV) is an insult to SUV's either compact or otherwise - Seriously. In the name of compact SUV I am scared how many such neither a here nor there cars are going to be introduced. Why don't they launch these simply as regular or bigger hatchback cars rather than calling them compact SUV's?

I hope you have also seen the latest scoop pics of a Renault compact inflated hatchback posted yesterday in another thread .

These are called suvs because in our market, the badge SUV sells not the actual SUV. Sad reality...

IB Times is quoting a rumoured price tag of Rs. 3.99 L. Article below:

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I remember reading some where a quote from Pawan (I think on the forum) that the price range would be around 4-6L for this product line. And that makes a good sense, esp, if it would be powered by a 1.2L petrol engine as well.

Possible for M&M. But with its presumed ugly profile from spyshots and knowing the fate of Verito, I don't think this car will be such a threat to B-segment hatches. Hope it will not go the Nano way.
