Is it me or do the front and back look like totally disconnected vehicles.
The front looks puny and not substantial as compared to the full grown back.
Would have liked if the front was more balanced.

Exactly my thoughts.
The front looks weirdly small!
The small front will benefit in larger boot and more space in 2nd and 3rd row seats. Same is the case with amaze but amaze being a <4m car, the front doesn't look small and integrates well in design.

^^From what I have seen, cars in these segments (small MPVs, Sub-4m sedans etc.) are normally market-specific compromises where cost-effectiveness and practicality takes precedence over looks.

But in this case, I am quite sure that Honda will work its magic to make it as spacious as possible.

re: Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29

Courtesy IAB, there’s an enthusiast video from Youtube, which has the Mobilio walkaround. It shows the first & second rows of seats very clearly, third row is not quite visible though from the front. The rear AC vents are clearly visible (are placed similar to the Ertiga). However the 3rd row is 50:50 split unlike the Ertiga

The boot lid being open the space behind the third row of seats (boot space) appears to be quite ample, (should be definitely more than the Ertiga, the overall length of 4390, which is 125mm more than that of the Ertiga, must have helped creating that extra space)

Just for comparison purpose I am putting below the picture of Ertiga boot

Some photos from Autocar
Interior
Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29-mobilio.jpg

The interior is same as Brio/Amaze. The defogger button is missing
The media system and pedal finish is not standard i think. They were available as accessories when i bought Amaze. So dash is pretty much similar to Amaze.

Second seat space, good legroom

The boot is significantly large!

Any idea whether Mobilio 2014 would have magic seats similar to Honda Jazz?

Thanks

Overall Honda Mobilio looks a capable MPV. The boot space looks sufficient for a small family. Bring it on Honda.

Indeed. The 3rd row space looks really good from here. This MPV with the diesel engine will surely make good sales in India.

In the last pic, the car looks H-U-G-E in length! As if the driver sits on another planet! Is it really going to be like this or is it the WA lens playing with our space perceptions here!

re: Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29

I look out for 7 seaters with great interest personally. Ultimately, I would want a nice spacious 7 seater that's not ultra pricey since it would be the 2nd car in our house.

One thing that I consider essential is the amount of boot space after the third row. So far, Innova and Fortuner max out on this. Ertiga is poor, cars like XUV non existent.

I was extremely pleased to note that the Mobilio from photos at least seems to have pretty good boot space with all 3 seats up.

Other useful points (where the Ertiga needlessly compromised) are split last row seats. If someone is buying a 7 seater, he requires flexibility for chrissakes. Don't limit options with a bench at the back like the Ertiga.

Now if only wishes were horses and they could offer a diesel A/T life would be perfect. But I know that's just not going to happen. It'll be petrol A/Ts only and diesel strictly limited to manuals I'm sure.

At Indonesian event
Sure looks awesome in white!

Petrol variant will have 1.5 i-VTEC with 118PS and 144Nm, same as Honda city.

Not sure whether this video is already posted here. The video gives some clear insights about the upcoming MPV from Honda.

IMO its front looks weird as a MUV.

(Pic from Video)
Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29-untitled.png

Only if it comes with a VGT churning out 120+bhp with ~20kmpl mileage will it actually have something exclusive. Else, given they already have production constraints, they're neither gonna be able to serve the customers with timely deliveries nor will the spare part distribution be very viable. In these current conditions, recipe for a Flop product IMO.

Another way for Honda to speed up setting the New plant would be to license the engine to players like Tata or Chevy, companies that are in desperate need for something new and serve a small market (if they license to Maruti, they'll barely get any sales later!).

re: Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29

I guess this can be sent to a car museum as a display piece for all the types of head rests available for a car!

They could've at least given full head rests for the front seats, especially when they give it for second row. Looks a bit strange in the interior shots showing all 3 rows having different types of head rests.

Exterior reminds me of the old newspaper cartoons where we had full size head and small body. In this case, its just the opposite.

It wouldn't have looked so bad with a minivan like design for the front, probably with headlights and grille similar to City. (More on the lines of a mini-Odyssey)
