Yeah, perhaps it will never be lower priced than either of those. But considering it is a similar product - a compact SUV built on a platform of similar size - Ecosport on Fiesta and Encore on Chevy Aveo - It is not hard to imagine how it can be priced similarly. Anyway, I seriously think that a lot of the manufacturers are going to bring products to compete in that segment in India - it is the red hot segment now. VW Taigun could be next, not sure what next.

I really appreciate the Japs that way, look at Honda the Amaze is here without any fanfare etc., they are like Nike, just do it! Ford Launch the car, that's it.

The seat thickness can be reduced by making strong and thin frame, without reducing the foam/thigh support, Boot space: I think the geometry is totally awkard here to put things in, compared to fusion which comes in same league. Interior movement -space is less when compared to fusion.
When rear seats are folded down will it create a fully flat surface from BOOT to Front as in cheverlot Beat/Trax.

Isnt this a design reversal ?

Want more space? get a bigger car. You can't create space without compromising on something else, be it safety, comfort or reliability. Ford is known for its driving dynamics. Rather than asking Ford to learn from Honda, if you like the Honda way of packaging, you should go with Honda.

Duster is 4.3m C2 segment car. Ecosport is sub-4m car with a spare wheel that makes it look longer. They are in different segments. Ecosport may create a whole new segment (B3?) if it succeeds.

Well said. I see some meanigless criticisms here against the car. I think some people want to buy a car that looks like Ferrari, seats like Innova, has a ground clearance of Hummer, provides safety of a battle-tank, sips fuel like a 100 cc motorcycle and costs as much as a Nano. They can keep waiting all their lives to buy a car.

Today, Ford salesperson called me up to follow up his yet to be launched car. 1st call in a month after booking. He subtly advised me not to make a hasty decision before seeing the actual car & test drive. I persisted a lot in asking why what happened, when are they launching & even made a passing remark about my Amaze booking. He said "That's why I called Sir". Boy, a yet to be launched car worried about the sedan puppy of Honda!

With the petrol price cut, even I'm now in 2 minds about Amaze. Wait for EcoBoost worth it?

If you are going to see the Ecosport & run into any Ford people ask them whether the 1.5L Petrol AT(auto gearbox) will have a variant with 6 airbags. Also whether AT version of Ecoboost will be launched later.

For this class of car, is China a chauffeur driven market?

India is sometimes made the production hub for RHD vehicles. For SA, Oz, and England, where will the Ecosport be manufactured. If India, will these countries get the Indian Wheelbase?
