Spied again;

This pic reveals it as a 5 seater only

Also note absence of the rear footboard;

The front wheel hub is different. See older spy pics.

Re: Spy pics: Quanto 4x4 Under test

If they plan to position this as a 4X4 then they should get it better shoes and add some cladding around the tyre well to give it a bit of a bulge. 5 Alloys would be required and the spare wheel cover can be done away with.

Basically with the advent of the EcoSport (not 4X4 but a great looker) a the possibility of a Duster 4X4 in the near future to be seen as a small SUV a vehicle also needs to exhibit that character in appearance. The Quanto is too bulky and boxy right now. They have managed space quite well though.

Re: Spy pics: Quanto 4x4 Under test

They could re-design the body panels atleast to give it a proper 4x4 look. If its just for safety sake that they are giving a 4x4, not sure how many of those would be in demand in India.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling this one is for the export market and may not be launched in India at all. But yes, seeing that it is a RHD, may be they would launch it as the top-end variant.

Don't see the point of someone buying this over any of the Mahindra 4WD vehicles though!

To make this boxy structure a tempting proposition in the current indian market(with the advent of teh stylish Forrd ecosport & Nissan duster), M&M needs to do quite a lot in these segments..
1. Get the styling right with good curves on the tyres, the roof sloping at the end, probably some cliche body lines & a stylish bonnet design
2. The ground clearance of 180 mm is barely enough for a SUV.. would be awesome to have something ~200 mm.... Would suit right for a 4x4 SUV.
3. The headroom can be cut down by an inch... will take off that tall-boy look & also cater to the 'body roll' issue being faced in the quanto
4. The 3-cylinder engine pulling a 1600kg beast does take a toll on the FE... might help to take off some weight & get it under 1400 kg for a better FE.

I so hope that some of M&M engineers/designers working on this mini-beast give the above suggestions a thought & implement these... Might just turn out to be another 'Glamour crest' in the M&M kitty.
