If this is true, in a few days, M&M should chop the XUV in half and compete with Swift and i20 as well.
W6 & W8 compare to Innova price wise but if there is a W4 at 1 lac less it is dangerously close to Ecosport titanium+ / Ertiga. Totally agree that XUV is better than Ertiga in many ways, but when uninformed people compare just the prices, this equation may come up.`

Re: XUV500 to Add Cheaper and Expensive Variants

I would love to have a W7 where M&M can take out the following from W8

1. Navigation System
2. Rain & Light Sensors
3. TPMS
4. Leather seats
5. ESP
6. Hill Hold
7. Side & Curtain Airbags
8. Telescopic steering
9. Power ORVM's

It is high time now that the Indian Auto Manufacturers start giving us options to Build & Price the car, something like a Jeep (http://www.jeep.com/hostc/bmo/CUJ201306/models.do)

Sir if you take out all these mentioned above, then you have W6. All these except Rain and Light sensors are missing from W6, so there would be nothing different in W7. I guess they should remove all things above plus:
  • Mood Lighting
  • Display screen
  • Steermounted controls
  • Climate control
  • Start Stop feature
and then they can name it W5.

Any more news on this? It's been more than a few months. I for one would love to buy a no nonsense XUV, with no other gizmo's than ABS.

+1 to the above, in fact I am in the market to buy an SUV next year, and if M&M can provide a W5 or something with price range closer to Ertiga, I would definitely consider the XUV. They could actually have optional 4x4 as well.

Re: XUV500 to Add Cheaper and Expensive Variants

I dont think lower variants might happen anytime soon. The GC adjustment and the resultant price drop was enough to pull back demand to the 3000 p.m number. M&M would be happy with those sales numbers in the current environment.

The face lifted Scorpio due anytime and discussed elsewhere is supposed to come with a price increase. There would be too much overlap if they now launch any lower variants IMO

The SA at Anant Cars - Bangalore told me that W4 version will be launched within 2 months from now. He also added that this version will have Airbag and ABS.
