A manual hub locking soft top 4x4 90 Prado would do the job perfect. TX or TZ.

Another option for Toyota would be to launch Daihatshu Rocky here with a soft top and a 1.8 L or 2 litre Diesel Engine.

How I wish for these cars to be available in India. A Thar beater and a Scorpio beater.
I do not think that the SWB vehicle will cost much less than the LWB version. In that case Thar and Scorpio are safe as they will be less than half the price.

What I would like is the Lancruiser Series 70 (manufactured both in Australia and South Africa). These machines are sold at price similar to the Fortuner D4D 3.0

The Duster "Pick up" if launched should be an interesting buy

Re: Cars we wish manufacturers would launch in India

I use SWB not for size but for better power to weight ratios. The SWB 90 or even 120 is more stable than the 70 series Bundera or 72 which comes with 4500 I 6 engine.

A SWB is more nifty off road, that is the reson why.

A lower version if launched sensibly, canvas top will not cost more than 9 to 11 Lakhs. It exists in many markets. In fact my own Prado owners manual had pictures of this manual hub locking typre SWB Prado.

Subaru and Mazda - entry of these two companies with their portfolio should spice up things.
Especially the Impreza WRX and the Skyactiv engined Mazdas.

I would like

Polo GTI 1.4 TSI with manual transmission
BMW 1 series petrol with manual transmission and oriented towards driving pleasure than luxury. Mechanically simpler with less electronics.

Re: Cars we wish manufacturers would launch in India

EcoSport has opened up a whole new segment, IMO. Perfectly sized for the city and very usable on the highway too (with the right engine, of course).

From the same segment, I'd love to see the following cars and also if rightly priced like the EcoSport, would allow the compacy (s)uv/cross-over segment to explode.

Peugeot 2008
Nissan Juke
Renault Captur
Chevrolet Trax
Toyota Rav4

Personally like the Peugeot 2008, Nissan Juke and Renault Captur. After watching EcoSport's progress, I hope Renault will also bring in the Captur to counter it.

I could rob a bank to own any of these

All time favorite gansta ride, the Escalade;

I have always loved the GMC's with the FBI agents from American movies driving them like crazy. These GMC's always made me want to become an FBI agent myself . The new Denali series is even better looking and i would love to own one with the bucket seats in the middle row (Innova ishtyle);

Come near me you Autowallah, look what i bought for you . The 3500HD;

And lastly to the more sober and practical one for our roads. Have always the Kuga's looks and the 2013 Kuga looks smashing;

Re: Cars we wish manufacturers would launch in India

The Nissan Altima is a car I've eagerly awaited to see on indian roads. The first time i sat in one of these was some 3 or 4 years ago in Abu Dhabi. They're used as taxis there, but then so are Camrys. :P
I love the looks and the dynamics of the car. I can't comment on the ride because even a tractor would be as smooth as a toyota on the emirati roads.
