Mod Note : Please continue the discussion over on our F-Type Official Review!

Jaguar will be bringing its F-Type Sportscar to India in July 2013. Two variants are expected to go on sale with a supercharged V6 and V8 as the engine options. Prices are expected to be in the Rs. 1.5 crore range.

The roadster features a traditional front engine, rear wheel drive layout. The supercharged V6 delivers 336 BHP and comes with a quick shifting 8-speed gearbox. The next model features the same V6 with 375 BHP on tap. The range topper comes with a 488 BHP supercharged V8. The V8 has a 4.5 second 0-100 time and a top speed of 300 kph.

An interesting feature on the F-Type is its 'Dynamic Drive' system that allows drivers to make changes to areas like the exhaust note, steering feel, throttle response and gear shift speeds by pressing a button on the touchscreen. In terms of size, the F-Type sits between Porsche's Boxster and 911.

While you guys are waiting for the F-Type launch, here's a look at their new short film;

I suspect, inspired by the BMW short films with Clive Owen, etc...

Enjoy

Not really. The base v6 F-type is exactly the same price as the RS-5 in the US. The RS5 before the budget 2013 duty hike was 95 ex-showroom for a decently loaded one. Hence after the duty hike the estimates mentioned above for the F-type seem near accurate. I'm guessing prices would start at 1.2cr

But isnt the base Jaguar XK already avaliable in the Indian market @ Rs 92L (ex-showroom)

Also XK is more expensive than the F-Type in the US

And technically the F-Type is pitted against the Porsche Boxter S so should be priced < INR 1cr

Didn't Jeremy Clarkson also comment on the over priced nature of the Jag F-Type? I think it was during the news section of the last episode before the Africa special.

True but these are all pre budget prices. Latest price lists will tell a different story.

Yes, you are correct. The episode is Season 19 Episode 2. But even considering that, the prices should be <1 Cr, including taxes and such I guess. The prices in UK start from the equivalent of 50 lac.

In general most cars are almost double their cost post conversion from $s and almost 1.75x the cost when converted from GBP.

Not that I can personally afford the car even at it's UK price right now, but the hope that one day (hopefully not too far off) I'll be able to afford these beauties is something that I'd like to live for.

And personally, even if I could afford a car worth 1cr+ I would think MANY MANY times before buying it, especially when it's considerably cheaper abroad.

Having said that, I hope people buy a few of those. Indian roads, especially in Mumbai can do with some prettying up! <3

Exactly my point !

The fair pricing for this " KITTEN " should be 80-90L INR, anything more than 1 Cr may not be worth it as there would be plenty more exciting options at that price point

Exactly, the 911 Carerra S comes to around 1.07 cr OTR according to Autocar India May 2013, and honestly, why would one go for a Jag at that price when one can get a Porsche for the same amount.

The 911 Carrera S is 1.40 odd ex showroom (or was before the budget). It should be 2 on road now.

I read that in the Autocar India May 2013 edition's price list in the back as I mentioned in the post, it may be wrong I guess.

Well for starters in the Jag stable itself the XK base has a V8 against the base F Type having a V6.

The XK Costed aprox 90L (Pre Budget)

Audi stable one can pick the RS5 (also way faster & more powerful).

Also the base R8 was available @ 1.6 cr & now it should be >25% atleast but still for it becomes a choice for some one shopping in the 1Cr + category.

BMW has the 650i to offer at a similar price point & should be more powerful & faster too (Not sure if 650i is still selling or not) If not then the 640d is exciting enough.

Porsche has the Boxter S (was available for 69.3L pre budget - Now can add about 25% increase) which is one of the most fun cars around & yes the 911 Carrera 4s was aprox 1.4cr before now should be 25% more of that making it shy under 2 Cr

Nissan GTR not sure if it is available (But seen some discussions on our forums itself can be got here through Nissan on request) falls into the 1-1.5 Cr range

The F-Type being a GT Sports car these are just what i pointed out were the 2 door coupe / convertible sports cars on the basis of being equally or more exciting & if one is flexible then more exciting cars like M5 can be looked at which is available now for aprox 1.25 Cr (Post budget price)

* Note all prices are Ex-Showroom
