Cheers!

How many Dzire are used as Taxi-cabs among these above figures , eventually Amaze will replace Dzires , Veritos as preffered Cabs

Honda's May-13 sales are up by almost 10% to 11,342 units (its highest ever monthly sales), courtesy Amaze of which it sold 6,036 units. City, Brio, CRV & Accord found 3202, 2012, 68 & 24 units, respectively.

Refer ET report on Honda's numbers:

The EcoSport carries a burden of uplifting the mood at Camp Ford which has witnessed sales slump by 22.46% in May-13 to 5993 units (May-12 = 7729 units).

Yes, This figure also includes the Dzire tour which is the old Dzire which is seen as a airport taxi now a days.

I dont think Amaze or even the newer Dzire can become a taxi. Honda service is not known to be cheap and Honda is yet to run as a taxi in India. Maruti has a good experience selling Eeco and Omni for taxi segment and came up with old Dzire for taxi

Ask any taxi guy, he will find Etios or Verito much more economical than Amaze or Dzire.

Honda has surely tasted success. I feel they deserve it after being silent for so many years without a diesel motor. Hope their service network also delivers to the new breed of Honda customers who seek VFM car as compared to earlier Honda owners who did not mind shelling out few extra grands

Tata Motors reports its May sales of passenger vehicles.

Quote:

Sales of passenger vehicles for May 2013 were at 11,134 nos. Sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range in May 2013 were 8,927 nos. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales were 2,207 nos.
Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were 22,704 nos. Cumulative sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range were at 17,845 nos. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range were 4,859 nos.
Toyota India reports a decline of 35% in sales to 10,023 units.

Cheers!

With Honda managing 11342 units in May-13, they seem to have edged Tata for the 3rd spot in MOM Sales. There are barely 200 units defining the position this time... close call clap:.

^^^ Correction, Tata & Honda have now locked horns for the 4th position. M&M s in 3rd with almost double sales as that of either.

Honda will secure the 4th position by next month. We should see Toyota/GM/Ford giving a close fight to Tata for 5th position as well. With no new models in sight, its tough times ahead for Tata

i think govt should re-think on charging different excise duty for below and above 4 meter. If they make it uniform, customers will get a spacious car. in order to make the car with-in 4 meters, manufacturers compromising on boot space and rear leg room. If govt increases the limit to 4.5 meters, vehicles like honda city / verna / duster will be more affordable.

Maybe this (hatchbacks sales tumble, with only exception i20) means that people expect more features in small cars too unlike the past when an AC & power steering were considered luxury in hatches. I believe, auto manufacturers need to experiment with interior shades as compared to all dark interiors (Black/ Grey) as people tend to prefer lighter shades to premium-ness & cleanliness, & the dark interiors are considered too basic & workmanlike, which one buys so that he/ she needs not spend a fortune & effort in maintaining the interiors.

Moreover, not all people prefer to have pocket rockets, i.e. cars that handle well. IMO, a lot of people go for slower cars with soft suspension, as they tend to associate the same with luxurious ride quality.

Higher sales of Dzire over Swift is just an example in favour of the above arguments.
