Definately agree on that one..... was so relieved when we sold off our scorpio last month. We had the first generation scorpio and not to take anything away from the car, did serve its purpose!!! but the passengers only get thrown around, not a comfortable ride at all.

Oh, you mean the "seat of the Pants" test! Unfortunately, they're very unreliable you know.

I don't know who buys the Phaeton. They're nice, but they sort of look like souped up Passats. Anyway, I didn't think VW was going to make the same mistake they made in the US.

Thought I will bump this thread up.

In the last seven months or so we have had the following

- Promises of GM Captiva but nothing concrete.
- New CRV
- No news on Fortuner. Even media stopped predicting its release.
- Nothing on Outlander.
- Promises and hope of new 2.2 Dicor but nothing concrete (other than the thread with most replies on T-BHP
- Hope of Scorpio with new engine.
- Hope of new Endy in April.

Not much action in SUV-land

Share the frustration.. As the speed breakers and bumps and potholes in bangalore get higher and you have this Sphincter constriction everytime you tenderly go over them and you hear the scrape sound, the need for a SUV is felt. But the frustration of either outpriced or outdated SUVs is echoed by me. Still looking out for a good SUV that is decently priced..

Hondadude this is the rundown on your frustrations and expected launch dates

- Promises of GM Captiva but nothing concrete. Early 2008
- New CRV Already Launched
- No news on Fortuner. Even media stopped predicting its release. Forget it, I dont think it will be launched
- Nothing on Outlander. No idea
- Promises and hope of new 2.2 Dicor but nothing concrete (other than the thread with most replies on T-BHP Tata's are struggling on this one and I am sure Mahindra is too (since AVL was behind both) so dont expect it before end of this year.
- Hope of Scorpio with new engine.
- Hope of new Endy in April. Its just around the corner, wait till April end.

I have been waiting for few of them for last 6 months now I know it is frustrating and I feel both Mahindra and Tata are to be blamed for going public on 2.2 even before testing it.

Don't forget the ultimate SUV Trax Gurkha. They have released 20 limited units to India, but none have been delivered so far, even 3 month after taking booking.

Just one small doubt. How did you come to know about the Limited Edition Gurkha. I have been to several Tempo...oops Force Showrooms and these "buggers" don't even know if there is a product called as Gurkha!

If we leave those City UVs like Tucson and CRVs, we have this Grand Vitara, the big daddy of all the 4WD mini SUVs! I am talking about the new GV which is going to be launched in few weeks/months in India. A decent looker, not so big so that manageable, less maintenance costs (old GVs with Suzuki engines are reliable, not those Peugeot engines), TD powered. Ride quality is surely better than the canopied Ranger, Endy. Lets wait and see the pricing Maruti's planning!

Its already March end. Any news about the new TATA Safari? I was going in for the current VX 4X4 model. But when I heard that the new 2.2 ltr 140 bhp TATA Safari is coming I postponed my purchase. I have already waited for 3 months. Do let me know how much longer I have too wait.

Try reading this thread, may be of help -
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...hp-320-nm.html.

You'd probably be better off going for the existing VX........

You are right. I probably missed others in the 30L+ category as well.
My vested interest made me focus on SUVs which are priced at
around 20L or less.

Maruti has been doing all sorts of facelifts for their wagon Rs and the zens...but I dont understand why they have completely neglected the gypsy. Why cant they launch it with the 1.3MJT which they are using for the swift? That would solve all those mileage issues. A few touches to the interiors and suspension changes for better ride...would just make it MY perfect SUV. Most of the SUVs in discussion are out of reach for the majority of population.
