I had spotted a brand new Opel Corsa with a Maharashtra( MH12)temporary registration in Bangalore. The car was without any camoflague. Is this a sign that Opel is coming back to India ? It was raining heavily and hence had to take the snap from my car itself.

This is a test vehicle being driven by Bosch for fine tuning the Engine management. You can see this doing rounds around Adugodi during weekdays and going out on long runs in the weekends to check the vehicle running in different conditions. It is not for Indian market and is being developed for the EU market.
This has been discussed already in the forum earlier.

All,

I spotted Two door Opel Corsa Ecoflex being driven around in Bangalore. There were two of them, with a badge 'Vehicle 1' and '2' on them. below is a pic i could manage to get in the traffic. Unfortunately, Neither could I capture the interiors nor a front stance.

Looks damn good ! Interiors also look premium, but can be confirmed only with a closer look. Any news of its launch? I am sure gonna keep an eye on this one !

The second image is a random pic to show how it looks from the side. Damn good aint it?

I highly doubt if it will be launched here in India. Most probably these are on test from Bosch. I am not sure but I guess I had read about it on this forum itself.

Same vehicle I saw around 3 weeks back and got all excited! Unfortunately, it seems to be only on component testing at Bosch, Adugodi :-(

Oh yeah you are right! I saw it around Bosch adugodi itself.

GM is never going to re-launch Opel brand in india atleast till they can strengthen Chevrolet brand(Which was pretty strong few years back and now gone down)

They are busy launching Chinese cars. I dont think they will be launching any german cars here.

I couldn't agree any more. This car, if ever launched, will not fetch any big market considering the two-door design of the car. Having said that, what a look! she seems mean.

May be General Motors is testing the engine and power train components. Because if its a test mule of Bosch, it would have sported a Karnataka license plate. MH-14 indicates that it has connection to General Motors Talegaon, Pune plant. Just a speculation again..

There should be 2-door designs too!

Unfortunately, enthusiast 2-door car market is non existent in India! :(

Yeah, so if launched it will be on par with Fiat 500 and the similar segment.

The GM tech centre in Bangalore is playing a pivotal role in global R&D. I would assume that this car is a part of development work being outsourced to the tech centre in India. unlikely to have any relevance to Indian market

Interestingly this is a Right Hand Drive test mule. Will that be any indication that it could be for Asian or UK market ?
Another speculation is that GM could re-brand it and launch under the Chevy stable in India. But I am sure that would be a remote possibility in the future.

In the end like everyone says, it could be a simple Component Testing for Bosch. :-(

Been a great lover of Opel Astra, would love to see a relaunch of Opel brand in India. But as everyone suspects I too think this is a test vehicle for Bosch or GM itself, otherwise it would have been heavily camouflaged !

Is it just me or this vehicle really resembles previous gen Hyundai i20 so much from the rear & front.

Launching a 2 door hatch in India as re-introduction of a brand is a big no-no. Any ways, its not camouflaged, do highly doubt launching of the same.
