BMW 7-series joins the CKD bandwagon - Production commences at Chennai plant

BMW, since launching the faclifted 7-series in April, has now commenced production of the same from the Chennai plant.

It will share the assembly-line with other models like the 3, 5, X1, X3 etc.

The prices of the different variants are,

730Ld - 92.90lac
740Li - 1.12cr
750Li - 1.29cr
760Li - 1.73cr

The 7 series CKD had started last year itself. They are now producing the facelift version here. However I yet don't think any of the petrol models are assembled here, just the 730Ld

Hopefully they aren't yet cheating the govt and getting SKD kits and claiming duty evasions as per CKD norms.

For these different variants are there features that are exclusive to each or is everything an option that can selected even in the base variant and the only difference being the engines ?

The features won’t be different. You can spec up your 730Ld to all the options, kits and accessories as you want and can even get ‘em in the top of the line Individual spec.

But I believe special editions like the Steinway & Sons Edition are only available from 750Li and above.

The 730 has standard features, since the others are cbus some options can be specified on them. You can see the spec sheet on the bmw website for detailed information.

Bmw should also start assembling the 740 here since some people do like petrols, and the lower on road price of a ckd will help sales.
