They need that XA Alpha very badly.

Now onwards, every new car that is getting launched is going to eat into the shares of Maruti.

Amaze is eating into 5-6K Swift/Dzire sales and EcoSport will take another 3-4K at least from its share.

Yes, that's Amaze effect for sure. Here's a look at the prices for Ritz and Amaze from the respective company's websites. These are ex-showroom Bangalore prices.

Observe the Ritz VDi, Ritz VDi (ABS) and ZDi prices. Hardly a difference of 40-50K comparing with the Amaze variants. Shelling a bit more gives more benefits:
i.e. proper sedan with better interior space, bigger boot space, More powerful engine, yet more efficient as well.

Contrary to the market conditions, a lot of new car queries have been floating around on our forums for the last few weeks. Is this a sign the Indian auto market is starting to look up again?

Maruti sales are down 13% YoY.

Looks like others will be sharing similar charges this month. Awaiting June sales numbers.

I look at it otherway, Because People are only querying and not ending up buying cars we are seeing decline in sales.

Re: May 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Looks like the numbers are disappointing for all manufacturers. I am thinking how would be the dip for Tata Motors, probably one of biggest losers this month again. Being a Tata car owner, I hope them to succeed.

Re: May 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I just read this article on firstpost. It seems that Honda has had a pretty good month with the Amaze contributing to 50 % + of their sales. This article also highlights the dip in Tata Motors' figures.

I know two people who bought duster in that count.
It will be interesting to know the next months sales of duster. Short term, no impact because we used to hear about long wait for duster. Off late i hear dusters are available within 4 weeks and few common colors like Black and white are available immediately or within weeks. That shows signs of slow down

Ecosport helps spur Ford sales in June

Ford sold 7145 vehicles in India in June 2013, up 14% over the same month last year. However, Ford has not revealed exactly how much contribution the EcoSport has made to this growth.

Re: May 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Seems to be a bad month overall for the automobile market, every one has reported a decline in total sales.

Last month Ford sold a total of 3469 (Figo) + 53 (new fiesta) + 413 (classic fiesta) + 67 (endeavour) = 4002
Assuming they sold the same number of other models this month as well, brings the rough figure for Ecosport to a good 3100 + units.

Ford dealer had informed me that the plan is operating in 3 shifts and the production for ecosport is in full swing, next month should show their max production capacity

Re: May 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Renault India started climbing up from July 2012 only after Duster was launched. Renault's actual year on year performances will be reasonable only from next month. And we will then know if it is affected by the gloomy auto market or not.
